And I agree with the above.
Yes but Underwood let him be humiliated in front of everyone by Lovelace.....He never stood up for poor nat and he was evil and mean all the time ... u can't really blame nat for hating him.... ^o) ...and after all he didn't mean for him to get caught....he was just keeping the amulet somewhere safe..

Besides, the capital isn't always the strongest city in the country.
1. Canada didn't exists 'till 1976.
2. Usually is. Look at Rome, Carthage, Athens, etc, etc

Wtf? Canada existed in the 1700's, only know as some British name. They gained independence in 1867, July 1st.

And let's say it didn't exist till 1976...so what? The story takes place in the present, only with seriously outdated science.

Called 'alternate universe'.
And for the record, Canada wasn't on it's own completely until April 17th, 1982, when the Canada Act was passed by parliment, severing all ties to the United Kingdom.

Except that our Queen is still their head of state. As you so astutely failed to point out, nothing of note with reference to Canada's nationhood happened in 1976.

Where does it say in the Bartimaeus Trilogy that Canada was formed in 1976....

Who cares if it wasn't till then the all ties were "severed" then. That's possibly the least important part of Canada (sorry Britian).
And I think it's sad that Canada still considers the Queen their head. Surly "severing all ties" includes not including the Queen in the government chain....

I just pulled the '76 outta my ass, lmao.
I consider 86 as Canada's real first year, even if they don't share my opinion.

Technically your Queen is the Queen of Canada, not the Queen of England. They just happen to be the same person.

They can't be arsed about it, if I may use Sent's frequent word.

And it isn't really picking a new one. It's still a monarchy. It stays within the family.

In a fanfic i once read, it was aobut naty before he was picked up by underwood. His birth and stuff. His mother and father wanted to keep him in it, but the government had claimed him.
I retracted my wing briefly, held the boy so he had a quick view of the square.
"Take a look," I said. "Which house do you think has the thinnest walls?"

For a moment, he was uncomprehending. Then his eyes widened. "You're
not---"

"That one? With the pink shutters? Yes, maybe you're right. Well, let's see..."

Yes well it is a fanfic and thus probably filled with flaws.

Sorry for the rude welcome. He's a proper one.
