He's definitely a lot better than many characters out there. I'm sure you're not supposed to like his personality in the second book, just to find his high-and-mightiness amusing.

Actually, those of us who've finished the series like him. It's him in the Golem's Eye we don't like, cos he's such a high-and-mighty little... no, can't say that here... in it.

I hate how magicians think they're better then commoners. That idea was in Nathaniel's brain even in the 1st book. So what you know spells and how to summon a djini! Tell any person how to and they can do it!

But that's the glorious irony of it. Anybody could do it, but the magicians still think they're better just because they actually ARE doing it.

Ah, irony...if I'm even using that right...

It's like Harry Potter! You don't have to be born with magical blood to use magic, look at Hermione! It's the same thing in the Barty Trilogy

I dont understand. Magicians are taken from 'commonor's' families so why are you arguing this? even the magicians agree that commonors can be magiciens if they are proporly trained.
'"That's right," I said "Me. What, did you think that I'd be all nice and quiet for you? Think again, sonny. There are two of us in this body now. Check this out."
To prove my point I lifted one of his fingers and methodically picked his nose. He uttered a squawk of protest. "Stop that!"'
I lowered the arm. "That's not all I can do if I put your mind to it"'

I thought this was like an error in Hermione's gentics that made here a magician rather then her being able to do magic by chance

What about Harry's mother then, she was a muggle too

yeah but his father was a magician so mybe his gentics overpowered his mother's genetics and so harry became a magician

Harry's mother was a witch, also, albeit a muggle-born one, so really genetically the chances of Harry being born anything but a wizard are quite minute.

As far as I could tell in HP, there's a chance of any Muggle having the ability to use magic, just like there's a chance any wizard might not be very good at magic. It's just far more likely that they'll be like their parents.

In Barti Trilogy, commoners can do magic, the kids are picked when their "common" parents sell them to the government. Magicians arent allowed to have kids as it creates competing dynasties and civil war, according to Underwood.
hi there
Krim Horla
Or maybe it's not really much of a secret as long as you know what to say and how to say it, and anyone can learn how to summon demons and whatnot. I don't believe Stroud ever mentioned one had to be born with the power, but I haven't read the Amulet for a while. I bet this has been previously mentioned, but I'm too busy not reading to read anyway.
