To all those who are still agonizing about the death about Nathaniel, there's a fanfiction called 'The Last Page' by the author Musica Diabolas on fanfiction.net. The story is a collection of other things that could have happened for the ending. I reccomend skipping to chapter three where Nat doesn't die and reading it and pretending that was the ending. (Hey, there's reviewers that said they would do it so it works for them.) But I personally am going to have to go with Ptolemy123 on this one. Nat had to die. The ending was heartbreaking, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It was perfect.

Well if the ending wasn't good enough, what would have been your perfect ending then, huh?

I gotta go read that fanfic when I have time. Anyway, I thought the ending worked really nicely. Though it was really sad, I think him dying showed more of his character development.

Or lack theof? (Since if he's dead, he can't develop any more character.)

When I read the last page I had to read it three times for it to sink in, Nathaniel was dead!

Hey maybe the Nathaniel on the forum will sacrifice him/herself to save old topics

How can you be sure? Maybe Nat will heroically imolate himself on CNN to get our forums more publicity.

Post - i hate CNN so it would have to be BBC, however i don't think there is enough magic in the world to combat the wreittings of Jonathan Stroud - so my death would be in vain

Well actually, in my opinion, I found a really nice ending for the series, and it's a very plausible, finish. No, Nathaniel doesn't come back to life, but it really finished off the book really well.

It was by Dutchwaffle, called, " Live and Let Die "
Yes it's on fanfiction.net.

It has an irony to it, but neh.

... yes.

Charla says:
Very well. you are dismissed. * waves hanky * XD
You know I want to roleplay Trickster as a djinni.

I've just finished re-reading the whole trilogy again, the ending really pissed me off.

All of you might think I'm totally mad, but Nathaniel was my favorite character. He really reminded me of myself...a couple of years back. And then in book three I could relate more to him again than in Golem's Eye.

I was personally upset about the end. Actually, that's a bit of an understatement. I threw the book across the room, cried for a long, long time, and wore black the next day. But then I realized that it was the best way to end the book and now I'm fine with it.

For the most part.

How was it great? It was writen well and was very tragic, but I would have prefered if more characters had lived (Nat, Jane, Ptolemy)

Nat and Ptolemy, yes.

Jane can rot.

You're just saying that to piss me off. Jane isn't the nicest person but at least she has character...
