Yeah, that's fairly true. I like Nathaniel in the first book the best. He seems more real to me. And he's so much of a jerk in the second one I still haven't forgiven him in the third.
There is a sort of busy worm,
That will the fairest book deform,
Their tasteless tooth will tear and taint
The poet, patiot,sage or saint,
Nor sparing wit nor learning.
Now, if you'd know the reason why,
The best of reasons I'll supply;
'Tis bread to this poor vermin.

I liked his jerkiness in the second. Added depth. I always root for the Machiavellian characters.

I was like, grieving after the third book...
I agree with what Gladstone said first there..
Nearly started crying at PG.
I think he was a good person, but had been corupted by the systym.

The government made him get all phony and stuck-up.Much like the real members of the government. Not to be off topic, but I have to say I hate Bush.Anyways, Nathaniel was a good person all along. :new:
Nat's death wasn't directly mentioned in the book...so...maybe....just may be....

I'm sure he's alive.

He has to be.

Yep, he's alive.

We all hope that. Maybe the frustrated spirits in the Staff were grateful for Nat releasing them, so perhaps they transported him?

Whats a Machiavellian character?
Knowledge is Power, Power Corrupts, and Corruption Destroys.

Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.

There was never a good war, or a bad peace.

My exact same feelings.

A cunning, scheming and unscrupulous person. Esp in politics & business.
Origin - from the name of the Italian statesman Niccolo Machiavelli, whose work The Prince (1532) advises that the acquisition & use of power may necessitate unetical methods.

i agree. his flaws made him a good representation of how ambition can corrupt. all the magicians on the council were against him in GE, whitwell was quick to disassociate herself from him, yet he proved them all wrong. i liked him even more in PG when he became good again.

i wasn't happy that he died, but i really can't think of what he would have done if he had survived. become prime minister, maybe? haha, nat as PM...

Well, I assume he would, since he would have been the strongest magician left behind.
