Would Bartimaeus have risked it?

Shouldn't have done that :ninja4: :ninja2:
What I mean is, don't get me started. I could go on for hours.
Between the two of us, we could stage a formal debate that would span weeks. One that would probably end in shrieking and hair-tearing.
Everyone would be comatose by the time we were done.

Fathy - Good to have you! Your English is quite good for someone who is not a native speaker. :)

So cool to have an Indonesian here! And just keep posting and your English would improve (it is not very bad).
Am I the only Indonesian here?? (I need help to translate)
There might have been others from your country (guests or members) but I don't think anyone else has mentioned that they are Indonesian.
I think your English is good enough to be understood by others. What is your mother tongue anyway?

Oh, thanks. It shocked me if I was the only one (it has to be another!). My natives are Indonesian and Sundanese

Yes, yes. it's not fair. XD. or might be after Ptolemy it's easier for Bart to has a bond with humans. There are a lot of similarities between Ptolemy and Kitty. Bart thinks so.

iI wonder why entities from the Other Place (most of them)have a good sense of humour? Haha, millennias of slavery could make you more comical..
Well, yeah, I guess Ptolemy made it easier for Bartimaeus to have bonds with humans. But it annoys me. Kitty and Ptolemy might be similar in some ways, but he knew her for just three days. Compare that to the two years he spent with Ptolemy.

Also, allow me to point out that she didn't go to the Other Place for Barti, as Ptolemy did. She did it in order to have him help Nathaniel to destroy Nouda. *Is a proud Bartimaeus/Ptolemy shipper* *Shot* D8 .

I guess it would start off formal. Then it would turn into the latter. :P

... Or maybe not. Look at Jabor.

Bart's sympathy for commoners took part too, I think. True, Kitty went to the Other Place to look for help, but she could just summon Bart instead of risking her health (and maybe her life) for Bart.

And for Jabor, at least Barti make him funny (for me)
Amulet of Samarkand wrote:Jabor finally appeared at the top of the stairs, sparks of flame radiating from his body and igniting the fabric of the house around him. He caught sight of the boy, raised a hand and stepped forward. And banged his head nicely on the low-slung attic door.
Lol, he was a fool.
Fathy wrote:Bart's sympathy for commoners took part too, I think. True, Kitty went to the Other Place to look for help, but she could just summon Bart instead of risking her health (and maybe her life) for Bart.
No. Kitty needed to win Bart's trust. Remember, she had summoned Bart earlier to discuss her plan and he rejected it. He would have never helped them defeat the spirits if Kitty didn't go to OP to show that she trusted him. It was the gesture that counted. By just summoning him, she wouldn't have won his respect and love.

And also, it would be stupid of Nat/Kitty to summon Bart into their bodies without winning over him. While we know Bart and believe it is unlikely that he would have destroyed their minds (as he wouldn't want to be stuck there for eternity), Nat and Kitty didn't know it and wouldn't risk it either. Also, Bart might have never helped them in spite of them summoning him into either of their body.
Also, Bart was very weak to directly help them.

By the way, was Bartimaeus' dismissal was really necessary to release the staff's power, or was it just Nat's excuse to save him oh the yaoi? The fact that Barti didn't seem to expect it made me wonder.

It was Nathaniel's excuse to save him.

Yes, it was.

Barti could break the staff easily. It would kill them both.
After Bart had been dismissed, Nat didn't have energy to control the staff, as he expected, it would be broken automatically.
Awwwwww.

That's such a lame excuse, anyways. Can't spit it out, Nat? :P

Yes, I think he would. I think Bart cares for Nat more than he lets on. If u read in between the lines of PG, Bart was actually trying to convince Kitty to rescue Nat.
What do u think?

In that split second when Nat said that he is dismissing Bartimaeus, I guess that was the time when Barty would have realized that he will most willingly risk his own life for Nat. I think he didn't really like what Nathaniel has become, but he has a notion that the kid's got a heart, and a conscience to go with it too, and he only proved it when Nathaniel dismissed him and saved his life. He glimpsed again, for a moment, that little boy Nathaniel, who will without hesitation rather die than make others do in his stead, and for that, Nathaniel earned Barty's love and respect.

I second the motion. This made me change my mind about the topic. :D
I shall spread your vile essence across this hall like...um, like margarine. A very thick layer of it...
I'm not even sure he'd have risked his life for Kitty. Ptolemy's death hit Bartimaeus really hard and, not having made that connection again in the two millennia since, he's sort of closed himself off. Even when Kitty goes to the Other Place for him, he only agrees to come back after accepting that it's what Ptolemy would've wanted.

Yes, but in another part, it says that Bartimaeus would have gone through a vat of acid or fire form Ptolemy, and now that Kitty went to the OP, the same applied to her.

I don´t think he received Nat´s last gift unwillingly. But he would sacrifice for his life if there was chance for him to survive it, but DEFINITELY not dying with him as he wanted with Ptolemy. Bad luck Nat.

Just because of giving them here, some smiles:
