Pfft. Jealous. :D

Actually I'm fighting an uphill battle to convert back to XP, then convert to Mac.

OK, buy a Mac.
You can Run Tiger, Leopard, XP, Vista, even Linux (though you may have driver issues; you can, but Apple didn't really mean for you too).
There is only one reason not to buy a Mac: Hardcore hardware modding.
Apple doesn't want you messing with their sh*t, that's why it's so friggin' hard to mod a Mac.
Expansion nonewithstanding, (It supposed to be expandable), Apple greatly discourages any major mods to their systems.
Screw up ur Map Pro or iMac during the mod process? Too bad.

Want gaming? go to XP or Vista, Crossfire and SLI will work.
May take some coaxing, but it does.
Otherwise, there's no good reason not to buy a Mac, at least not one I've heard or read about.

No wonder my school newspaper said that Mac OS is "difficult to use". O.o

Then again, I don't trust my school newspaper sometimes (not that I don't believe their article on the Mac right now).

And that'll cost you an arm and leg for an OK computer, why not custom build a powerful PC for a fraction of the cost and have XP, Vista and Linux on there. :P

There's no reason to buy XP now. But there's no point upgrading a perfectly good copy of XP to Vista, either.
Agree with Nat here. Half the fun of computers is building them! And then you upgrade them rather than buy a whole new expensive computer.

yeah, but not everyone has enough time to build their own computers. we upgrade ours (its a mac, very easily done) but building them would be too much of a faf.

Upgradability is very limited compared to PCs - you're tied into only using parts Apple feels like selling you, and they're generally cheap Dell-level components for high-quality decent-manufacturer prices.

Dell, Apple, and other big companies that manufacture end-user computers use the cheapest components available. It's just business sense. It's cheaper to use cheap components, charge lots for extended warranties, and then replace the bits that break than it is to buy quality components in the first place.

And I mean seriously, is your average Joe Sixpack gonna really care about the computer?
Every Mac, Macbook Air and Mac Mini excluded, have upgrades-aplenty.
Easily installed.
Plus, what the extra two hundred or so when you know you're getting a better product?

Besides, I'm taking about the guys the stamp their own cases, that kind of Modding.

Actually, I don't know I'm getting a better product at all. Please, explain..

My uncle still uses our old Compaq computer from circa 1994. Upgraded to Windows 95, but otherwise all original components - glorious 90MHz Pentium.

Now that's a good reason to upgrade your Mac! The old one looks rubbish.

Brushed aluminium rather than grey plastic, and an otherwise pretty much identical design, complete with superfluous and downright ugly handles! That's an upgrade worth hundreds alright! (Please don't tell me it hit four figures..)

they make it easier to carry :P. ok then, i wont.

we needed another one any way, my dad was pissed off with my little sister taking his laptop all the time because she didnt have a computer of her own, and the dog got stuck in the cables at the back and bent a load of stuff (seriously, we unearthed the little wireless aerial thing because the wireless kept dying and it was bent in half).
