yeah, he bit my laptop's power supply cable in half 3 days after i bought it :( the bastard. apple were really nice about it and gave me a new one under warranty, we even put down 'dog bit it in half' on the form. unfortunatly cyprus isnt covered by it so when i broke the second cable we had to pay for a new one <_<

Handles on the *bottom*? How much carrying around of it do you do anyway?
Oh dear. Over £1000 because the case was ugly? =p

What kind of moronic case designer puts air intakes on the bottom where it can suck up all sorts of dust and other junk from the floor, and require lifting off the ground to allow the air in in the first place? What's wrong with the sides of the case!? And why the hell do the lifter-off-ground-thingies look like ugly great handles, for that matter?
Slowing down with age? And there was me being told that it's only Windows systems that build up crap as they age and need reinstalling...

How true. Just took a peek at mine...Ug....
But what are we talking about? I've been quite a bit busy to not know what's going on...

there arent air intakes on the bottom (at least i dont think there are), air can just circulate under it so the bottom doesnt get too hot. The lifter-off-ground-thingies look like ugly great handles becasue then the whole case looks the same.
Well, not really slowing down with age, we are just trying to make it do too much. its running leopard and its a bit too old to keep up.

Computers are cooled by sucking air in one end, running it over heatsinks, and blowing it out at the other. Lifting the case off the ground will do nothing noticeable for cooling unless there's a heatsink actually stuck to the bottom of the case (there won't be) or there are air intakes down there (sadly, there often are, though I can never work out why it seems like a good idea).
Oh, right, so the whole case looks equally ugly! Gotcha.

I can't think of many PC cases from the last five years that are as mind-bogglingly ugly as that brushed aluminium monstrosity.

The Thermaltake Armour and the Antec 900, two of the best PC cases around.

And a Shuttle case, which my next PC will be using. (It's absolutely tiny)

The Armour and the 900 are both around £80-£100 I believe. The Shuttle case includes a power supply and motherboard and costs about £150 - £250 depending on what motherboard and PSU it has in. The total price of the Shuttle computer I intend to build should be around £500.

...it's a case, it's not supposed to have anything in, and it costs under £100... build a decent PC for maybe £400 more.
