exactly and if they were able to destroy nouda. I am sure they cuold take ramuthra.
I retracted my wing briefly, held the boy so he had a quick view of the square.
"Take a look," I said. "Which house do you think has the thinnest walls?"

For a moment, he was uncomprehending. Then his eyes widened. "You're
not---"

"That one? With the pink shutters? Yes, maybe you're right. Well, let's see..."

Ramuthra's more powerful than Nouda, and killing Nouda required blowing up gladstone's staff and dropping a massive iron building on him. I wouldn't count on it..

If that whole process was done on Ramuthra, it wouldn't work:

The Iron building would be sucked into his vortex (though the iron would certainly hurt), and the power of two marids would be obsolete.

The Staff quite imply wouldn't.
Ramuthra warps the laws of nature and magic.
Might not even be an explosion.

Magician: Behold! The might Staff of Gladstone! Die, foul demon!
Ramuthra: *Snaps stick, eats magician*

All it had to do was walk up to the magician and win.

id go for ramuthra, a main thing people over look with ramuthra is his intelligance and while in the book he doesnt seem anywhere near the intelectual standards of Barti or Tchue for example we only realy get a fleeting visit from his before he goes. A spirit of its magnitude is not used to the earth and may still have been in shock from someone having the audacity to actualy summon it. But on the whole i just get the feeling through the style of writing and Bartimaeus' attitude toward the two that ramuthra was the more powerfull.

Lets not forget that Ramuthra was also the first choice made for overthrowing the government while Nouda was a lowly 3rd

Well, it is pretty obvious which is more powerful, Ramuthra. You need a summoning horn to summon AND dismiss him, and four magicians. With Nouda, he was summoned by one, and they didnt even need a horn, so obviously Ramuthra is stronger.
Nouda wanted to be summoned though, so it wouldn't have taken much to do so.

The summoning horn wasn't necessary to summon Ramuthra; it merely means the four magicians can do the work to summon him in private, and then one can quickly call him when necessary. If they'd had to perform the entire complex summoning ritual on the spot, the government magicians would have called on a small army of djinni and afrits and torn them apart.

Ramutha might not be that strong if only 4 magicians were needed. That means hes only twice as powerful as the avarage marid which need 2. Which would mean hes only a higher lvl marid. Barti being an avarge mid lvl djinn can take on low lvl djinn easy so I guess hes more than twice as strong as them
ooo im a mouler now not a mite.
but by that same token it took only one to summon Nouda makig him less powerfull thyan a marid which we know is not the case.

Nouda wanted to be summoned, meaning it probably wouldn't have needed more than one magician to do so.

I think your guys' math is a bit off.
I think the level of power needed for higher spirits is exponential, not just 2+2.
Makepeace was an exceptionally strong magician, very strong willed, and very well learned.
Now, it says a strong magician can summon an Afrit on his own.
Those who are particularly good can do a Marid on their own; Whitewell probably could.
If my theory's right, Ramuthra is incredibly strong, needing 3 strong magicians to control him (Lovelace's master was dead, remember).
So, if a strong willed and athletic kid can summon Bartimaeus, and a reasonably strong magician can summon an afrit with about the same effort, needing three magicians means Ramuthra is seriously powerful.

Err... I'm pretty sure reality-warping powers would trump Nouda in most situations...
