I hope they don't have an adult Ptolemy. D:
Having a full grown man follow a 12 year old around for a whole movie sends the wrong kinds of messages.

I suppose they are just glad someone is making a movie out of their book. Disagreeing with some things would make them look too choosy and the directors and producers might not like it. And they will always look for appeal more than trying to stick to the plot.

I think it would be better to have Ptolemy be an adult, because juvenile actors are mostly terrible.

Yeah, I saw another of his movie the other day and I agree. He doesn't always act brilliantly and would be a little weird for Ptolemy. A child actor would do better.

Em, the suggestion was that Johnny Deep play Bartimaeus, which while isn't my preference, isn't a terrible choice.

But Bartimaeus would usually be in the spirit/animal form. If he ever takes human form, it would mostly only be Ptolemy. Or he would take on small roles to imitate some other character from the movie.

But I'm pretty sure he should just voice Bartimaeus. All the other forms he takes would be played by other actors.
