But what it would hopefully do is to get more children read the book, who in turn would convince their parents to read it. And it would become a grand success! And everyone would read it!
Oh well. Even heavily stereotyped movie is better than no movie. And I like the sound of that plan . . .

Yeah, and even if the admins are going to be selfish, I have a secondary plan. After all, Gladstone would be a millionaire. I will just fly to UK and open a beer shop outside his house. Then I too would become a millionaire.
I am just checking out some youtube videos of the AoS movie (all made be fans). Two of the ones:

The first one is better.

Sigh.

It would take a long time for me to spend that much money.

=p.
You won't know how you will spend it Gladstone. You will take to costly alcohol than cheap and then...shock...you will no longer be a millionaire.
Stop drinking so much!

Do you guys think that they'd try and cram Kitty into AoS?

Yeah, they should have her appearances that she made in the first book (trying to steal the amulet from Bart and meeting Fred and Stanley in that alley). Well they might not, but they would if they wanted to include her in 2 more movies after that. I would hope that they wouldn't try to put more of her into the first movie.

Well it would make sense (and maybe even a good idea) to push back some of Kitty's flashbacks from GE into the AS movie. Because there is the possibility she may seem awkwardly thrown in. That would also make all three movies (if that happens; even if AS by some miracle gets made, that doesn't ensure they'll make the rest) closer in length.

Of course, I know no one here is going to agree with me, but there you go.

I think I would prefer to see the whole flashback in one movie. Having a part of it in AoS and another in GE could be confusing to those who have not read the book.

I would agree with ^NAB. The second book has a lot to do with Kitty. If you take her plot and put it in the first movie, it would take power away from the second movie.

OMG! Seeing AS in 3D would be awesome. I would say if they made the movie it would be in 3D, every movie is like in 3D now.

Sure, but they may change it just so they don't have Kitty right up from a minor character in the first to one of the major ones in the second. At least add in a scene with the Resistance or two.

Of course, since I'm the only one who thinks making changes to a book when adapting it is anything other then blasphemous...

mm you may have a point there. minor changes are okay, but moving kitty's background into AS would be kinda silly. maybe a couple of extra resistance scenes would be okay, but i dont think they should go too far into kitty's story yet.

They shouldn't, but they would. I think a few Resistance scenes in AoS are very likely.
I keep wondering about the footnotes. If Bart is the one telling the story (like in the book), I don't suppose it would be too odd to include the footnotes during his narration.

Depends on the footnote, probably. If it's a small story, they can just do a little flashback or something and some voiceover narration would probably work, especially if he's explaining something important to the plot (like the planes, spirit classifications etc.). Don't know if everything will make it in there though, it might detract too much from what's actually going on. Footnotes are one of those things that work better in book format.

I think they would just have a voice over. Like in Fightclub, how whats his face tells the story over certain scenes.

I'm not sure I'd like in 3D - might be to gimiky. But hey, if it's just for depth of field, like Avatar, then ok.

Imagine: IMAX3D with Jabor, engulfed in flames and firing detonations at a cowering Bart and Nat.

This interview by Jonathan Stroud. My friend sent it to me.

His wife says Johnny Depp for Bartimaeus! I completely agree. And JS believes the movie (if it ever comes) will be really good. I think we too should have hope in it being good :P .

Ugh. Not Johnny Deep.

Or Jack Black, which I seem to have heard before.

Quoting the interview ~~The movie people told me 3 years ago, in the book, when he pretends to be a human, he is a kid, but they thought in the film he must be an adult because they need to have a proper famous actor so I said “OK, If we have to do that...”~~
DO ALL AUTHORS BACK DOWN LIKE THIS!?!?!!?!? that must be why we have such horrible movie adaptions! "Ok if we have to do that" honestly.
