The 2009 Film

Amulet Of Samarkand
So where is the movie then?

It doesn't exist, and it probably won't.
So much for hope.

Well, if it ever happens it's likely not to happen in 2009. :P

Sure it will. Jonathan Stroud is a time traveller, didn't you know?

Buhhhttt... If he's a time traveller and somehow uses his incredible power over movie execs (which btw, he would also need to have)to get the movie made and then released by 2009, then why isn't the movie out now?

WHAT KIND OF TIME TRAVEL ARE WE TALKING ABOUT!?!

(Back to something a little less confusing)There is as of yesterday, another factor to take a look at:

That Percy Jackson movie is getting pretty lukewarm reviews (however, this seems to be mainly the fault of people who automatically assumed "Harry Potter rip-off" before even seeing it; but I haven't seen it so I wouldn't be able to tell you). Since both that and Bartimaeus are filed away under "Children's Fantasy" as I've talked about previously; it's even less likely to happen then it ever was. Which was very unlikely.

Though it will probably depend more on the kind of box office it gets. Since it's the Olympics and any parents who would take their kids are probably going to see Valentine's Day for a date night instead (which got even worse reviews, I might add; but that's never stopped people from seeing a romantic comedy with a lot of famous people in it *scowl*), count on "not much."

So yeah, considering this and other reccent Children's Fantasy failures (Harry Potter and Twilight seem to be the only ones who don't get this); I figure it won't be long before the studios decide to just give up on the whole idea all together. Plus it's a recession, so they're more likely to stay with the safer Sequels/Reboots/Adaptations of Popular Stuff route. (Which sucks, because I am getting really tired with sequels, but that's another issue altogether)

Whew.

One day, you'll wake up and realise you saw the Barti movie in 2009, and it was awesome.

I really wanna watch the Percy Jackson Movie! I loved the books.

Maybe Bart didn't want the movie to come out.

^that. I'm sure Barti WOULDN'T want the movie to come out.
As I said before, I really don't want to feel like "OMGWTFBBQ!!!111!!! Whut on earth have they done!"
"When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story".
I'll be happier just imagining an awesome movie for myself XD instead of taking a chance on whatever adaptation does get made being entirely made of suck.

Maybe he used a time stopper too. They showed all 2 hours and 31 minutes of the movie within one second, so that's why barely anyone can remember anything.

Hmm. I'm sure we'd all love to see an attempt at a Bart film, but we have another book on the way so we can't complain. Also, for some reason whenever I think of a Bart movie I can't get that Golden Compass movie out of my head. Scary . . .
When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney.

Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you.
The Golden Compass movie wasn't bad. I would be relieved if the Bart movie doesn't take the Eragon turn. Anything but that.

It was ok, but whenever I think of how they would do Bart, I think of one of those weird talking animals. Don't ask why - I've no idea. Thing is - as mentioned before- we don't want the movie to come out and be branded instantly into that "Children's Fantasy Novel Adaptation" genre. Then it'll be thrown in with movies like the Golden Compass and Eragon.

Yeah, but I think that is bound to happen. Magic, for long, has been associated with children. Throw in a 12 yr old boy and a 13 yr old girl and it is pretty much sealed. But what it would hopefully do is to get more children read the book, who in turn would convince their parents to read it. And it would become a grand success! And everyone would read it!

Have you been talking to Gladstone about his master plans for getting Barti as big as HP and making him and me millionaires like those two who run that HP fansite? ><

No :D. But it sounds like an awesome plan. Provided we all get a little commission too. You know how many people took to reading BT because of me? And how many people I lended the books to? And it is my obviously my charm which keeps bringing more people to Bartiforums and retains them. And I drag all my friends to watch the movie.
Oh, if it only became as big as HP!

They're millionaires?

If you and Gladdy become millionaires, I want 50,000 dollars. Canadian dollars. I think I can live off that much for awhile. :D

Hm...maybe they should make the movie like Avatar. Have someone play Barti using the motion capture method that they used for the Na'vi. That would at least make big bucks for the visual effects.

If it was shown in 3D, that would be pretty interesting too.
