There could well be a movie. Someone has the rights and there was a script wandering around a while back, but things seem to have gone quiet on the whole film thing, so who knows..

He could like make little remarks or passages from the footnotes themselves; it's not necessary to do like a whole footnote if it's really-super long or one of those explaining-the-situation kinds.
Turning to the camera? I don't know. It might be a great idea or it might be cheesy...

Sentynel: this is the most current information on the movie, so far as I can see - http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/441789/ ... nd/credits

Yeah, that list's been around for a while. It was kicking around imdb.com too, but you appear to have to sign up and pay to see any of the details they have on AoS now..

Mr. Stroud should be in charge of the screenplay, or I fear we shall have to endure another Eragon/Hitchiker's Guide movie-book relation.

The Hitchhiker's movie wasn't *that* bad. Didn't exactly live up to the book, sure, but it's hardly on the level of awful the Eragon movie attained.

At least let's hope that this movie won't be so bad that it will end up in this list, along with the Eragon movie.

Edit: There's still nothing new about the movie, is there? -_-

Hey, I liked the Hitchhikers movie. Not every movie has to be exactly the same as the book. Makes it boring, IMO.

And Sydney Pollack's dead now...

As for the footnotes, for the ones where Bart is telling a story, there could be a short series of pictures (kinda like a slideshow), with narration from Bart over top. They would need to be short though, or else they wouldn't really work.

It's not even been confirmed, never mind started shooting.

I do believe there's a script, or at least a treatment by Stroud.
I've half a mind to send in the first scene I wrote.
Pfft.

No.
xD
I think I will send it, just to see if I get a response.
Besides, It's a script will Screenplay elements within, and those need to be seperated.

No offense to those present.
One must be cautious.
And please, you think I'd be afraid of being rejected?
After everything I've said (and rejected) here?

If they're going to turn the Bartimaeus Trilogy into a movie, it's going to ruin the Ptolemy thing. I heard that they would make Ptolemy a full grown guy rather than a kid. It was in an interview with Jonathan Stroud.

Well, as long as he looks young enough, I guess it's okay...

Everyone knows who's Johnny Dept, right? They say he might just be the one that plays the voice of Bartimaeus and if memory proves right, also Ptolemy.
Johnny Depp playing Ptolemy??? Can't see that for some reason, unless he's also doing the voice as well...

Speaking of which, did anyone here ever mention whether the film is going to be animated or not?
