Did you read the original or the translated one? I had to read the Chinese version for school, and I resented that at first but on hindsight it had a great plot and characterization.

I can't speak Chinese. I have a translated version.

I read a translated version to help me study. It has nothing in common with Bartimaeus...JS&MN is about magic and magicians, I really recommend it.

What genre is that? I'm alternating between 2 books (do that alot); the Piano Teacher by Jelinek and The Sicilian by Mario Puzo. The writing in the first one is sublime.

I actually read a book a few weeks ago called "I am the great horse" by Katherine Roberts. It's kind of historical/horsey, but the main character reminded me a lot of bartimaeus.

Or maybe I just love it cuz I'm a horse fanatic. :wub: But it is still a really good book
