That's amazing. Voting for NDP in Ontario is a bit like throwing away your vote imo.

You mean federally or provincially?
Little late to the party but yaaaaaaay!

Oddly enough, it's not throwing away your vote in my riding because they keep winning there. Federal and provincial. We're the weird little orange riding.

Never mind Canada, if Trump wins I'm enquiring with SpaceX about flights to Mars...

What, do you trust Trump not to start any world-ending nuclear wars?

I remain unconvinced that Ted Cruz would be any better of a president. Don't vote republican, kids!

Ted Cruz might even be worse. He's beholden to the evangelicals.
He's also my nemesis. "Earth science isn't a hard science" my eye.

And has... actual policies. So there's that.

The one good thing about Trump is his self-financing. Lobbyists wouldn't have leverage over him.
While self-financing can only get you so far, I do love how the whole situation is making the Koch brothers absolutely furious. For the record, they're the guys who have invested billions into the climate change denial industry.

My absolute favourite fact is the one where Paris Hilton is technically more of a business success than Donald Trump.

Self-financing (and the free media attention) might very well give him the Republican nomination, even the presidency. That's pretty far...

Yeah, I actually agree Cruz would be worse. Trump is a pure populist and doesn't generally have policies so much as ranting points, which makes him more pliable to moderating influences. Cruz is a hardline ideologue and inasmuch as Trump has any policies, they're not at all different from Cruz', but he's far more likely to actually stick to them.
At this point I can't really see any scenario where the nomination goes to Cruz, though; the options are either a) the more likely situation where Trump gets the nomination, or b) the Republican party collectively stage an intervention such that they nominate someone who isn't Trump, in which case they're not going to replace him with someone who's as bad. I guess in that situation it would have to be Kasich.

Thing is, Cruz is smarter than Trump, and more cunning. Which means more resources, and an actual long-term plan.

In retroscpect, the establishment should have thrown it's weight behind Kasich to begin with, but instead they wasted their efforts on Bush and Rubio.

But at this point, Kasich will not have a mandate to earn the Republican nomination. While it's theoretically possible, the 30-40% of voters who have supported Trump so far aren't going to accept Kasich as the nominee. Trump would probably run as an independent anyway. The only way to deny Trump at this point is Cruz.

Inside America, Cruz is probably worse. Outside America, Trump is worse. He'd be considerable fuel for the global jihadi movement, disrupt trade deals, and motivate other countries to look to China or Russia for military and economic alliances.
