I know ultra-conservatives here who think she's fantastic.. =/ The problem for the Republican party is that she appeals hugely to hardcore Republicans but has absolutely zero chance of winning over anyone who's even moderate. This means that she wins their primaries because of all the hardcore nutcases fangirling her, and then gets trounced by Obama.

I know a hardcore Republican (she thinks Obama's the antichrist...) who hates Palin. What's so wrong with Palin anyway?

Palin's a politically inept extremist lunatic. For example, she believes abortions should be banned even in rape cases. She has publicly said if her own daughter was raped she would make her keep the baby. It doesn't come much crazier than that.

Also she thinks she has foreign policy experience because Alaska is close to Russia, which is a whole 'nother level of moron.

Edit: Oh, just remembered, she changed the state police budget such that women now have to pay for their own (very expensive) rape detection kits, rather than the police department providing them. I Am Not Making This Up.

I think "next month" is a bit on the optimistic side.. it's going to be months before any sort of conclusions can be drawn, and years until we can be sure one way or the other.
