Every government is corrupt.

They just were more oppressive than corrupted.

If all the governments are corrupt, why do we continue having them?

Every government is corrupt. Some more then others obviously.

But governments are better then having mass chaos on the streets without any kind of order whatsoever.

Mwamba kind of summed it all up.

And she's, for once (just kidding), right.

The goverment wasn't corrupt? Lovelace, Duvall and Makepeace not ringing any bells?

...Eh?

No, we were agreeing on the corrupt government comment.

And most of them were corrupt, not just those three.

I was simply pointing out that it wasn't simple common corruption. There was an attempt at a coup every few years or so, from the highest ranks in the goverment, no less.

"Power Corrupts, Absolute Power corrupts absolutly."

Governments are normally a bit corrupt, mostly it's public perceptions.

And we won't even mention the whole "George Bush Complex"...

Leave the poor guy alone. He's a consumate politican who happens to have underestimated nationalism. Oh, and his military planners also happen to be complete idiots.

He doesn't really think for himself does he? His goons do it for him, he's just the figurehead.

He is the president of the USA. And a Cowboy. And I don't think politicians are qualified for comanding a military operation. Give him a break, no other guy would have done any better. Okay, perhaps a bit less... blunt. And might have succesfully prevented every too bit socialist republic from giving them the finger behind their back. But, hey.

What the hell was he supposed to do? "People of America. You know that I am a cowboy, but what you don't know is that I am peacenik cowboy. Sure, the Petagon has a big hole in it right now, nothing a bit o' concrete won't solve. And who needs the world trade centre, anyway? We'll build a 'Interplanetary trade centre' once those Nasa guys colonize mars. No biggie, no need to go invading people, you see?" America would have torn him apart.

Back to the whole power/corruption thing....

Actually, it's just not public perception. All governments are corrupt because people are basically corrupt. Everyone's mostly out for themselves.
