That'd be awesome, but the state of my finances isn't great right now. (Okay, I actually have a couple thousand dollars in the bank, but it looks like I may have to pay a significant portion of my last few years tuition myself, *sigh*)

I got to see Life of Pi with my Grandma yesterday though! We've both read the book and we dragged my sister out with us. That movie is absolutely gorgeous. Begging the question, if that book was so supposedly "unfilmable," why can't we have a good WWZ adaptation?

And yes, Mwamba, that does make me feel better. :P

Lack of writing talent, directing talent, pressures of a big company such as time constraints, topic constraints, etc.

Great adaptations are hard to find. Once they're good though, they're amazing.

The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, and now Life of Pi.

Notice the talent behind it all? It must have been hell to get all the right things. But they did it.
*sigh* I know. I can dream though. (Ang Lee or Peter Jackson for an Amulet movie, anyone. :P )

From what I've heard, The Godfather is actually better than the original novel.

Considering how most think it's the greatest movie of all time and the Godfather book was just a bestseller, yeah.
Plus they split it up into two movies pretty nicely.

Can we discuss how Marius from Les Mis appears to be played by Fernando Torres?

Edit: In Motion:
Hehe. In semi-related news I would totally watch this version of the movie.

I SAW THE HOBBIT GUYS. I convinced my sister to go with me and my brother because Lee Pace was in it. I would find that funny but that's essentially the only reason I will watch Breaking Dawn Pt 2 with her. Turns out no one told her that there was 3 movies so she got upset at the ending.

So yeah, it was AWESOME. The script was a little bloated (and I hear Jackson's still going to be releasing extended editions for each film. Really!? You feel like you need another 3 hours? Also, with all the gratuitous fight sequences, we still couldn't get a longer version of Misty Mountains? :'( ) but the movie overall was a lot of fun and really, really gorgeous. Man, now I really want to work for Weta.

Onward to 2013 and all the awesome movies contained therein. :D

YAY for the Hobbit! But i definitely agree it was rather bloated. I went into the cinema thinking it was only going to be one movie....HA.... naive little me that I was.... a few hours in I started to think....'gee their a long way from getting to the mountain still...the endings going to be really rushed...' and then it ended...and I have to wait another few years for the ending so it turns out it wont be rushed at all....

I watched The Host last week where they bravely tackle the big issues in body-snatching drama like "if my parasite likes a guy but I like his friend, how will we marry and make sweet babies without engaging in an unholy threesome?"

jfc, they just let the parasites go at the end, to destroy other civilizations and planets. They don't even bother telling them that they should think about not destroying entire species. Nope, 'cos spoiler alert, the host and the parasite both get bodies and their guys and the end! yay for happy endings!

The soundtrack was distracting and overbearing and so badly timed, the CGI sucked. Basically everything you would expect from a Stephanie Meyer adaption.

Still better than the books. Maybe you could debate the plotline, but I have no idea how some people can have the patience for her similies and then direct explanation of what she just said for that similie.

Last re-watched Inception. :)

You read the books? Why??

Anyway… I’m just going to take my fair share of credit for turning Boyd Holbrook into a teenage heartthrob. We plucked him out of obscurity and him the star of a thousand truly awful manips.

I spent a good chunk of the movie making jokes like “I’d invade his body” out of nostalgia.
Wow.

So I saw Pacific Rim the other day and it is FANTASTIC but it's actually making less than Grown Ups 2 and this is why we can't have nice things America.

(also this summer: Joss Whedon's Much Ado, Star Trek Into Darkness like three times, Iron Man 3 twice, Man of Steel, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, and Oz: The Great and Powerful, but I haven't had time to talk about them here. They're all pretty great except Oz which is awful and MoS which is worse)

You also took me and my sister to see Serenity for the first time (so happy I could see it on the big screen). Add that to your list of summer movies this year!
Watched "We're The Millers" today, and I recommend it! The best comedy I've seen in years!
This is about to get furious!

Basically I am the best friend ever. Fact. OH AND THEY ALSO SHOW IT AT MY OLD UNI'S MOVIE THEATRE ON OCCASION WHICH IS AWESOME OF THEM.

Recommendation noted. This year hasn't been much for comedy yet (except for 'The World's End which must be awesome because it's an Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg/Nick Frost thing) so it's good to know that one's worth checking out. :)

I didn't think it was quite as good as Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but it was good.

I'm excited for Gravity!
So has anyone seen Gravity yet? I think I kind of want to see it but since dying in space is one of the few things I actually have nightmares about...
