Movies I still need to see:

Transformers 2
The Hangover

I might see the new Harry Potter movie.
I checked out all the trailers. They look great, but that's always the case. The movie turns out to be below expectations.

Actually critics say that this is the best adaptation of the books that are released so far.

I know what you mean Nat. I seen the HP order of the phoenix trailer and I was seriously excited, I thought it would finally be a good hp movie.

Ok, the reviews don't seem bad. The second link had directly opposing views....anyway, I am going to see the movie tomorrow. Had one hell of a time booking. I tried to book by the internet first in my favourite multiplex, but in a few seconds the seats had all disappeared in front of my eyes. Then I thought I would try telebooking from another multiplex, but the automated machine called the movie "Harry Potter OF the Half-Blood Prince' which made me laugh & snapped my concentration, so I had to start the whole damn process again.
Also chiz, call me n&b. There is a Nathaniel here & he's nat.

lol.
Didn't think we'd have to school anyone on names.
Oh well.

I'm seeing the new one soon, it looks to be alright.
They've already cut out a lot, the memories were awesome and it's annoying they're so few in the flick.

We spend plenty of time schooling people on genders though...

Sorry, that was really low. :P

I've never understood the problems people've had with movie adaptations of books.

Nah, not really.
We've got low standards here ;)

People making adaptions or accepting them?
The latter, well... there aren't that many good ones.
LOTR is the best, by far.
The first X-Men and Iron Man movies were probably the best adaptions for them.

The former...
Eh.
Partly, different mediums, partly stupid studio executives, partly stupidity and thinking they can spruce up a story or that a part of it won't work or isn't needed.

More of the last bit (though you know, there are a few books I'd really like for them to hurry up and make into movies already, grr...), the main issue I have is people getting upset over every little deviation to the plot (I've had to hear this a lot about Twilight over the last few months, personally I like the movie better). If both were exactly the same I'd probably find it boring, plus some things are just hard to translate on screen.

Ugh, HBP was bad. You lose Nero(and I am sad about it-I wanted the movie to be good). I think it was the worst by far. The first half was comedy-ridden & though that's good, you seriously expect something more darker from the 6th book in the series. And the second half was even worse. The climax could have been loads better-the pain Harry showed during Cedric's & Sirius's death was far more emotive & seemed more genuine. And...I have a lot more complains, only it would be better if y'all judged the movie for yourselves. There were some positive points too-the trio's acting was definitely(in my eyes atleast) superior & there was Quidditch!!! And yup, there were more hilarious parts too (many thanks to Lavender).

Meh. I didn't watch it so I just trusted the critics.

Though I did think the novel was the worst of the series.

I thought it was the least satisfying.
Still satisfying, just not so much.
It was, at least, faster paced that Phoenix, which, while nice, got slow at times.
One helluva cliffhanger, wonderful setup for the next book...
I think that'll be the crux of the movie's success - the fact that it's mostly a prelude to the next one.
Which they split in two.
Stupid, but if it means they cut less out, then I'll deal.

I'm less about little changes (hell, I don't mind those) it's how, since the third film, they've modified major pieces (getting the Firebolt at the end pissed me off) and cut others entirely out.

That can only be a good thing.

The firebolt part pissed me off too. I think Cris Columbus was the best director-he cut out less stuffs & made it as similar to the book as possible. All the other directors were more interested in making the movie exclusively for teens than sticking to the storyline.

Well, that's really the whole point of making movies, isn't it; making something that people will want to see. You can't cater to just Harry Potter fans.

Also consider that, (for the most part) each suceeding book gets longer. People are not going to watch 4+ hours of things happening exactly like they were in the books, it's not a miniseries.

Edit: Interestingly enough, the change I hated most (the exclusion of Peeves) was in the Columbus movies.

But I don't like it that way. Sure, you must cut down a lot to make the movie smaller, but why add stuffs which are not required? And there are already so many movies for teens, why make this one too? The best thing about HP is its uniqueness & the directors are spoiling it.
I guess I am sounding childish, but heck with it!

I'm going to see it tonight. My expectations are low. Each movie was successively[sic? not on firefox] worse for me.

Strangely enough, I'm listening to the Williams theme. Ah, if only shuffle was more like Google Ads.

You know, if there isn't a Firefox addon that does that, there really should be...
