Not much was mentioned on Marids in any of the three books. I assume that they are very boring Spirits with zero personality. haha
It says that they are water spirits that radiate so much power if kinda fallls of them.

Er, I'm pretty sure Ramuthra is stronger than Nouda, due to the fact that Ramuthra has a reality changing rift following him, and Nouda doesn't.
This might have already been said. If it has, sorry for the copy.

Was Nouda a mariad? It said in the book that Nouda was a marid or higher but he seemed like a higher entity to me.
Both nouda and ramthura i thought were not marids. Ramthura was deffinitely stronger than nouda as well because ramthura could only be summoned by no more then 4 magicians and nouda was summoned by just one mediocre magician(makepiece). I understood that both nouda and ramthura were greater than marids. Harold Button who taught Kitty said that his leg was eaten off by a Marid who he summoned to questioni. Someone also said in the book that he was not the most talented magician... so marids must not be so incredibly hard to summon :/

Bartimaeus said in the first book that Magicians in atlantis summoned a Marid without a pentacle and it sunk it to the bottom of the ocean ;D so it seems like a marid would be able to destroy Persepolis.

Good point.

Let me explain...

Nouda is far stronger than a Marid and is not a marid. He is probably not much stronger than a Marid (Because he is weaker than the Staff with has "at least two Marid's worth of power."), but is still a higher spirit nonetheless.

Ramuthra is still a regular spirit, the reason why she or "it" has such a strange power is that it has so much power. Think of black holes and stars. Black holes are stars, but they have the ability to suck things up inside them, bend spacetime to an impossible length, while regular stars cannot, because Black holes are so much stronger.

Ramuthra is simply such a powerful spirit that when you summon her, she brings lots of power from the other place with her, creating disturbances in the physical world. You'll notice how she had the power to shift magic and objects, just like at the other place.

It took Nouda only one magician to summon him because he was far less powerful than Ramuthra, but you will also notice that it took the magician 9 minutes to summon him. It may have taken 4 magicians 9 minutes to summon Ramuthra.

So Ramuthra isn't really a "special spirit" or "works a different way" than the rest of them, she is just so powerful she brings part of the other place to earth when summoned.

This makes sense, but it's only stronger then him with it's full power blast, so powerful it destroys everything.

Well, first off according to Bart, I believe Ramuthra is a dude.

And secondly, good point. However, I have a couple of questions.

If having so much power causes Ramuthra to have the elemental bending abilities (or whatever you wish to call it) then why does the spirit in the AoS have as much but the exact opposit abilities?

Since when can you shift objects in the other place? You can shift yes, but there are no objects to shift.

Not really.

Ramuthra was summoned almost instantly through the summoning horn. It adds extra power and stuff. Without it, it probably would have taken much, much longer. In fact, since some of them might have died without it or they might have needed more magicians.

Point 1.1: The spirit in the AoS would have the exact opposite abilities because it could be A) Made of an opposite element Fire/Water, Air/Earth etc. and/or B) Because the spirit is INSIDE the AoS, it's effects are not felt on Earth, but creates a super powerful amulet, because all of that energy from the other place is stuck inside the amulet.

Point 1.2: I am talking about how things are not defined and always "shift" in the other place. When Ramuthra enters, everything begins to change, and nothing is "set" just like in the other place. People and things change into different chemical elements... things change color... state of matter etc.

Point 2.1: I think summoning horns work like this; Makepeace, Schlycher, Lime and Lovelace all do a "summons" on Ramuthra, but do not actually bring it to Earth, all the word bonds are in place, waiting to bring Ramuthra out of the Other Place.

Then, Lovelace blows the summoning horn, and the summons takes effect immediately because all the words are in place, but the summoning horn just takes the final "step" to the summons a whole lot quicker.

How is it possible that Lovelace could do a summons? We saw him and he was waaay too busy. And Schlyer was dead.

Though if you mean they did it earlier in the day and waited then that would make sense. But I'm not sure they could do that, it sounds like a good question to Ask the Author.

I'm pretty sure that's what a summoning horn does - Barti says they'd have needed four magicians to summon Ramuthra, and they definitely had the four required present, so it makes sense that they summoned Ramuthra to the summoning horn, as it were, so Lovelace could then summon Ramuthra just by blowing it.

That makes sense.

Because, after all, wasn't Makepeace already gone from the Hall?

That's right.

I haven't read AoS for a while, my best friend has my copy. And he better give it back.

Perhaps it was simply a precaution since they didn't know how much it would take to command something this powerful...
