well, we can hope :barti:
hi there
ok about HP: i am a big fan and will scream at you if you say movie 4 was good.

anyway, i knwo it never actualy says it, but it jsut seems so obvious! of course i hoped and i thoguh maybe he excaped and went away somewhere, but this seen reminds you of the ptolemy scene, and if you draw the connection the implication that he dies is too big. besides, there is hope, but we dont' know for sure. seriously, i finshed the bok and i rolled over on my bed and started sobbing!!

It doesn't specifically state that Nathaniel died, but there doesn't appear to be any way he could have got out. So, we have to assume he died.
There is a slight loophole for sequels there, but I hope it isn't used. Sequels could be good, but resurrecting Nate is a no.

As for HP, yes, any movie adaptation takes cuts, but it could have been done much better. And the maze at the end in particular has apparently no reason for being mutilated from the books.
LoTR for example. The movies lost/changed stuff, but they were damn good films, and didn't change anything major, IIRC.

No, not specifically stated; just heavily implied to the point of absolute certainty. Resurecting Nathaniel is a job for the guys at fanfiction.net. How knows? I might just do it.
If you see a Guy named Angst Equinox Reserructed him and everyone else who died, you'll know where it came from. :)

Nathaniel must be dead. Barty 'said' it himself. Ok, not the exact words but if you read the last paragraph again and again (just too make sure, like me) it's obvious. And anyway, it would be kinda weird if Nate would be resurected. Even though I want him to live, I guess it's unchangeable. :( But as you said I can write fanfiction.

HP movies are nothing compared to the books. I must say it ruined everything for me. Don't ask <_<
But LotR was great! Peter Jackson could not have made it better!

Actually i always found the movies more bearable than the books...

*waves shyly* This is the 'I have finished the last book' thread, right? :( Just wanted to say, that I finished the book about 5 minutes ago and it is in the middle of the night and I am feeling all crappy. Still! Such a great, great ending! First Ptolemy and now Nat? So tragic! So brilliant! I assume I will start reading the first book again now...

Yes, you have got the right thread. It has drifted a little off topic.

I loved this book. It's my favorite one in the series. And though Nathaniel was my favorite character, and the ending was really sad, I loved the ending. It was a perfect ending, well, not perfect, but awesome in my book. An awesome ending to an awesome series.
It was an Excellent ending. You started to like Nat at the end and WAM you have a feeling of lose. Not as bad as the feeling of lose in HP H.B.P. though.
I think the author will continue the series with the adventure of Barti and Nat while Barti was stuck on Earth for 2 years after book 2 but before book 3.Barti breifly mentioned a few adventure where he saves Nat but( there were three I think.Something with an embassy or ambasador wife ...???something like that.

Not likely. Bartimaeus said they were "Affairs of little interest"
And heres the qoute

You really don't think the author will follow that path?It sounded to me as though Barti was just down playing the value of Nat's life in his usual witty self. But what do I know...

well it was Bartimaeus talking...
'"That's right," I said "Me. What, did you think that I'd be all nice and quiet for you? Think again, sonny. There are two of us in this body now. Check this out."
To prove my point I lifted one of his fingers and methodically picked his nose. He uttered a squawk of protest. "Stop that!"'
I lowered the arm. "That's not all I can do if I put your mind to it"'
