when I first read GE, I hadn't read Amulet in a long time. I had forgotten a lot of stuff about it and therefore didn't enjoy GE that much. however, I recently re-read both books(in preperation for the Gate) and the second time around I enjoyed it more.

Once I got through the introductory chapters, Golem's Eye really held my attention, though I kept wanting to read more about the Resistance, instead of about the magicians. :P
I thought all of the chapters after the Resistance broke into the tomb were great.

I personally thought that Kitty's narrating was boring. Zzzzz. XD Nathaniel's was...um...pompous? XD He seemed to be acting just like any other magician. Bartimaues was his old witty and exciting self as usual. Go Barty! :P

Honorius was bloody brilliant, but otherwise the Resistance were less interesting than Barti and Nate.

I enjoyed kittys chapters, and Nat was supposed to be like that, because one of the main plot lines of the story is Nat aspiring to become a powerful magician, but in the end realises that the magicians are just out for them selves.

Well, for one, I thought it was a really good example of character develpment. For once we don't see the ever so kind- perfect, can do no wrong charcter in a book, and that's really cool how we saw Nathaniel grow up, and become cynical and power hungry.
Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Actually, the characters in the second book weren't under developed at all. If Nathaniel had kept his first book personality then the book wouldn't seem quite as original.
But I do like the first book more. XD
