Wow.
That's worthy of something Apollo would say.

Wouldn't it be better if he just sat on it? WWF :P

Not a chance.
I like him, but I'm practical.
In his prime, and if he caught Verroq off guard, he could.
But, he's not in his prime, now is he?

Well, if he does spend considerable time in OP, he would be back to his prime, right? Yeah, that's a valid point. The result of the fight would depend upon whether Barty got enough rest or not.

Verroq doesn't need to be on guard for his resilience to work, though..

Advantage Verroq  . That's why he's got so much support, he doesn't need to put up a shield like Bart & none of Bart's magic would work on him. And he could crush Nat with his bare hands....heck I can crush Nat with my bare hands. After Bart's description of him, he does come along as a weakling.

My point is that with his undivided attention on the matter, Bartimaeus is clever enough to find a way to kill Verroq.

Really? Cause he's had three chances to do so...

Come to think of it, pretty much anyone could crush Nat with their bare hands.

Grazie.

It should be remembered that Faquarl was able to knock Verroq out with physical force, and that on all of Bartimaeus' encounters with him, he used primarily magical attacks (the exception being the statue in AoS), and Faquarl said, and I quote
"The secret is to avoid magic, Bartimaeus. The fellow's resilience is excessive; it almost seems to feed off our energies. It helps to be encased in a mortal body."

Verroq kills Nathaniel with absurd ease, then kill Bartimaeus, and burns the chair.

His lack of ability to do so before was probably a combination of the following elements:

-Verroq was just a distraction (for instance, the first encounter. Bart was just trying to make it inside Lovelace's place or something)

-Other things were at stake

-Physical weakness?

Barti's been better, he's not back into his prime.
So, physical weakness.
What would you prefer, mental?

Surely not. Without his mental capability, Bart would have been killed like, 4000 yrs ago. But still, physical strength is really necessary. Esp near guys like Verroq who are extra cautious, extra careful & not all that stupid.

I said that might have happened had Bart lacked his present mental capability. But since that didn't happen, one can assume it would be a closely-fought match. If Bart had lost his physical prowess/power, he loses. If not, he wins(80-20).

He and Verroq are both smart (though with Bart being undoubtably smarter), and both have extensive experience in fighting and how spirits act.
Equal, Verroq's resilience wins the fight for him.
