His resilience would deter most of Bartimaeus's attacks.

Of course, I'm leaving out advantages and disandvatages from the surrounding environment.

I'm well aware of those, I'm not stupid. That might be a bit of a surprise, especially to Gladstone and Sent...

Bartimaeus could probably find some innovative way to kill Varroq.

Ya, like toss him from a hill, only it might be the otherway round.

Or into a hot spot volcano...

Or into the upper atmosphere...

Or into the middle of the Pacific...

Or into the middle of Antartica.

Or into Iraq....

Or into the Bermuda triangle...

Or into Bush's hot bathes...
Or into the mouth of the demon summoned by Nat.

That last sounds best.
Verroq qould likely use the room.
i.e. find a pole, sttick, rock, weapon's cache, et cetera et cetera.

Thanks, though I wonder, can demons swallow humans? If so, Bart would swallow Verroq himself, though he might be a little worried about indigestion.

I was beggining to think that "I don't like how Humans taste" is actually "I can't swallow Humans."

I think a Foliet could swallow a small one.
Or an adult, though there could be some issues with indigestion later.

Perhaps.

Anyway, I think Bartimaeus would win the fight.

Verroq, all the way.
Reason?
Even if you throw in the capability to swallow humans (which Jabor, Bart, etc. can), wouldn't the Merc's resilience keep him alive long enough to get his way out.
Perhaps by Pulling himself out, tor something predictable like that.
Remember what Faquarl said:
(Bart, after Faquarl knocks out Merc) "Nice job, I've been trying to do that for years." (Faquarl)"The key is to avoid magic, Bartimaues." [The Mercenaries]"resilience is excessive. He almost seems to feed off our Energies."

Damn, I'm good.

After killing Nathaniel and obliterating the Footstool, Bartimaues fled the battle scene.

And came back with a nuclear device, which totally pwned Verroq.

Not my most graceful comeback, but I'm losing, I'm bored, and it's so late I think I just heard a street cleaner go by.

Damn insomnia. Damn it.
