see and so the power of a marid could only hurt lower forms of the next stage like barti's can only hurt lover afrits
Lover aftrits? Sorry, couldn't resist funny mistype.

But most of the time, the spirits aren't using their full power. Plus, if you put two together that makes a difference. And it doesn't say how high the spirits are.

Their daring, nerve and chivalry

there is either one higher entity or more afrits and marids, anyway ramuthra could have taken it, the amulet can absorb the staff's power
I am Bartimaeus, Sakhr al-Jinni!! I am N'gorso the Mighty, and the SERPENT OF SILVER PLUMES!! I have spoken with Solomon, and rebuilt the walls of Uruk, Karnak and Prague!!

Only because he has the element disruptor thing.

Nouda might have a power like that.

And the amulet was made to protect, the entity might not have lasted under the staff and iron.

Nouda did not have any powers.

Ramuthra? He'd have absorbed the Staff. Dunno about the Iron.

We don't know whether Nouda had any powers. We've never seen him in his natural state.

Sure, a high afrit can ignore a middling djinn, but absorb the power? Physically becoming stronger by absorbing the magic? No.

What about when they eat lesser demons? That's absorbing power and it helps their esecense.

He was looking for food. He wasn't excatly in his normal state because his essence was swelled with humans.

If he hadn't eaten all those people, would the body still mutate?

So if Barti had eaten that cook in Book I he would have become 'Mutated super Barti'?

Wasn't the cook Farquarl?

Probably a lot less slowly.

But it probably still would. As Nouda said it was a pathetic coat of flesh.

Nothing can compare to their original forms in the other place. It must be disgusting to be in a human body.

Just read Bart's descriptions....

set Gryffindors apart."

The others seemed to enjoy the new power tho.
i have a theory that if an entity devoures a superior entity's essence he becomes stronger because where does the extra essence go u know, but i am afraid this is unfounded

This is obviously rare though. Because a superior entity will just blast the devourer apart with a detentation or whatever.

Plus, since servitude on earth wears down the essence it might only help the djinni regain lost power.

They didn't like the body though.

But even Bartimaeus felt blood lust.

Not necessarily. There's no 'always'.
