What determins the level of Djinn, for example,

Bartimaeus, Djinni of the fourth level - (not sure if that is his level :P)

And wasnt Honorius an Afrit of the 12th level?
hi there
Durrn Imp
idk. Maybe its defined by the first magician to summon them?
I loved the Bartimaeus books but, like all trilogies, it was way too short.
Power, I think.
No, that wouldn't fit.

Aha! Another question to ask Senor Stroud! (Runs off to edit post)

It's when a djinn goes about slaying dragons for 200 exp, then they reach their limit and go up a level. Then, they collect the dropped money and use it to buy spells from the Other Place spell store. Jabor is widely renowned for buying two thousand level one detonations as a baby with a fat inheritance he got when his parents were killed in Prague, and set them all off at once to destroy a level 10 afrit. He gained sixteen levels and went from the level of an imp to a high-level djinn.

You can quote me on that, it's factual evidence.

Better that than sitting babbling aimlessly here and not doing anything at all in the RP forum.

The amount of Other place stuff pulled over hear by the summons... it'll depend on the magicain's power.

Honorius's level nine.

Bartimaeus's level six (Sorry, mis quoted) Faquarl's level eight and Jabor's nine+(?)

No Bartimaeus is the fourth level, but one time in the Golem's eye or AoS, it was misquoted at fourteenth.

I believe there are probably 9 levels of each kind of spirit.

9th Lvl Djinn: Jabor
8th Lvl Djinn: Faquarl
4th Lvl Djinn: Bartimaeus
3rd Lvl Djinn: Comocordran

those are the only Djinn whose levels are named, I believe as you go down each level, the spirits become more common.

Actually, Honorious is mentioned as an afrit of the twefleth level as stated before.

Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

That's strange, if Honorius is stated as a 9th and 12th level Afrit, and Bartimaeus is stated as a 4th and 14th lvl Djinn, that makes the leveling system even wierder.

I'm way confused. :gladstone:

Didn't Jonathan state that he never totally thought out the system?

"You belong in Gryffindor,

Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Uh oh. :( Who cares, the books are still great. :8o:

Yeah, they are.

Possible Explanation:

There could be different classification systems.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

I'd kind of stuck on the classification stuff right now, since that's what we're doing in Biology.

Except with animals, not entities.

Was it ever stated what level Queezle is? I don't think so but...

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Equal to or less than Bartimaeus

Do all the levels of spirits (foliot, djinn etc) have the same amount of level or different. I don't think it said. Jon should release a book that just explains all this stuff. (Not that a lot of people would buy it)
