7 league Boots

Even though it is obvious that Nat dies, it is possible that he could have escaped. It is never actually said that he dies. He did have the 7 league boots on and could have escaped at the last minute, and is in hiding because now everyone knows his real name!

Thats the way I wanted it to end! :hmm:

There's a book by Terry Pratchett titled 'The Light Fantastic'. In it, a young wizard tries to flee quickly using seven-league boots, and in his haste he manages to put one foot twenty-one miles in front of the other. You can pretty much guess what happened to him.

Nat is dead. Even if he did have 7 league boots, he's too weak to run anywhere.

Alive!Nat is for fanfiction.

I think it's a plausible theory. Haha.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Were they even that fast though? To escape an explosion of that magnitude.

The time taken to think, to start to run would probably be too much to escape the blast wave.

I don't remember that bit from Light Fantastic, and I've read it four times... eeek.

I think he's dead. But we can hope...Maybe stroud will use this for a sequel? This is just wishful thinking, cause it's never gonna happen... :(
The Mona Lisa:

I'm wondering if the boots THEMSELVES survived, they had powerful entities in them. But Nat is dead.

He could write a sequel about Kitty, because she thinks Barti died as well, where Kitty tries to summon him and finds out he's still alive. And what happens to Mr. Button's and Ms. Piper's government against the uprisings all over Europe.

Yeah, it was there. A bunch of wizards came after Rincewind for that spell in his head and I forgot what happened but one of them tried to escape with his League boots and cut in half. Look at the footnotes.

Well, interesting, but Nat was in no state to run, he was weaker from dismissing Barty and well... :mwamba:

Besides, that would have been even more horribly painful and embarrassing. If you have to die, would you pick the "die in a blaze of glory" or the "have your body torn in half with your leg lying about a hundred miles away from the rest of you?"

That and the moment he released Bartimaeus, he blacked out.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

It's good he blacked out, it would be painful if he felt that explosion.

Aye, he blacked out, and he probably didn't feel anything.

I doubt he'd have felt anything even if he was conscious. Being at the centre of an explosion powerful enough to kill Nouda would have been pretty much instantly fatal.

Well, in the book I am fairly sure it said they made it from one end to the other end of London in 2 seconds or something. :hmm: I think thats what it said.

I'd like if Stroud made another sequel, Kitty main character involving Bart. Then later on Nat is found or something. Hospitale records or something I dunno, He'd think of something.

Even if it was that fast, most of that time would be getting moving, by which time the explosion would have fried him.

If Nat lived, it would destroy PG. It was a good ending, and Nat's part is over. It would seem a little overdone if he came back again.

Yeah, the sequal wouldn't be very good. What would it be, him jetting off 'round the world with Kitty having tons of little adventures and lots of babymaking sessions?
