Ah...did anyone watch the opening ceremonies yet? It's only an hour till they finally broadcast them here in Cali.

Edit: The Canadian team's outfits in the opening ceremony look so nice... O_O

It was impressive, but it was far too long, and got boring. I wouldn't like to sit in a stadium for that long, not for anything.

i thought the london opening ceremony would have a hard time matching it but now i think it will be pretty easy.

They are threatening to bring Morris dancers to the London one. Hundreds of them. Still confident?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

But yeah, now I wish I'd actually watched them. Probably wouldn't of been able to though... my mom had control of the T.V. upstairs and my friend was watching a movie downstairs.

no. why the heck would they do that? morris dancing is universally ridiculed. i think they might do some multi cultural thing...possibly revolving around curry :p
i hope they take advantage of the history of the place. and have horses.

morris dancing cant be much worse than the bag pipe players china had...

Again I say HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Though Vancouver will probably have something just as embarrasing. Mind you we haven't been around as long so we don't have as many embarrasing traditions (well atleast, ones that would translate well to the opening ceremony).

Yup. My cousin could actually compete in them, she's a really good skiier, but I think she doesn't want to bother.

Still, Morris dancing?

Morris dancing is just plain awful. The only reason I can think of for ever gathering 14,000 Morris dancers in one place is to get rid of them all with one bomb..

They aren't that bad, and can be quite good fun to watch sometimes. We get them in the town centre sometimes, and this kid that I used to babysit for, her father was a Morris dancer.

Well, both her parents went out regularly, so I sat for them regularly. The mother was going off to give belly dancing classes.

Kudos to the Chinese, the ceremony was brilliant.

And Phelps has already set a record.

Anyway,

USA! USA! USA!

To bad about Russia and Georgia though. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

If anyone hasn't heard, there was disputed land (South Osiettia) between Russia and Georgia, and Russia invaded last night. Now they are fighting each other, with 1,500 or so casualties. The UN and EU and US are trying to get them to stop, but apparently Putin isn't listening, and is playing the Peace through Superior Firepower card.
Russia will crush poor Georgia if this continues.
