2008 Olympics

General Chat
Well, it's still days away. Maybe they could come up with something better.

China has the most gold and the most overall medals as of right now. *sigh*

Edit: Does anyone else here think that some of the Chinese gymnasts look like they're under 16? Seems like it, but China and the IOC denied it. -_-

Yeah. I watched the "women's" gymnastics. They all look like nine year olds. And several of their teeth seem to be still baby teeth.... :P

And it's not exactly homefield advantage.... Canada hosted the Olympics twice, and never got a MEDAL. Not even bronze or silver. China training is...vigorous. And that's still mincing words.

China also have a pool of over a billion people to draw from, not to mention the ability to coerce anyone who happens to look promising into joining the training programs...
(and Canada are just rubbish)

In terms of nitpicking? No. I just felt a need to pathetically make a come back. :D

In the terms of medals? Sure. But I like to think myself ignorant and say they win via skill.

You mean most medals won overall (for both summer and winter games)? For country, I don't know. For individuals, it would be Larrisa Latynina of the now-defunct USSR (with a total of 18 medals), but Michael Phelps has the most gold medals as of right now.

Never fear, Nero. Even if they pummel us to the ground and crush our spirits, we're the ones with universal healthcare ^_^

Well, I'm 16 and I know a few people the same age who look younger... but with so many other documents stating their ages as 14, as compared to only one stating 16...

But I doubt it's gong to matter. It's not as if China will admit it, or that there can be concrete proof of the age.

Abel's quite right. We have universal healthcare too. As does most of the developed world, except the US.

Our government is trying to restrict free heathcare, as in make us pay for more essentials such as a wheelchair, as so to free up more money.

We're only ninth!

Oddly, the US still has a national debt of 9.5 trillion. If only they pooled some money from their military...

And the list also explains how China isn't in debt after the Olympics.

the uk are cutting off life prolonging drugs and if you say you will pay for them they take away the rest of your free treatment as well. guess this is what people get for voting labour.

They're also the only developed country to not have signed the Kyoto Accord. I'm sure they don't have an excuse for that....
Well, I don't think that matters too much, considering certain countries aren't living up to their promises... *metaphorically glares at Canadian government*
