Actually, that works against it. You'll need to upgrade your PC way sooner than once-every-5-years console.

Ah, yes, but you spend £100 - £150 ish every three years ish, plus the occasional larger upgrade, rather than one huge sum of £500 or whatever every five years or whatever. Looks like you spend much less on it cos you can spread it out much more.

Look at a 8800's price tag and tell me that's true.

No. It doesn't.
But by the end of 3, you get so frustrated at the Germans on the last level for killing you over and over and over and over and over, you go into a Hate-enduced Nazi killing spree. I was so frustrated... <_<

They come out every two Flooping 'ecking years.

Meh, isn't CoD 3 console only? The horror us PC folks must face...

There's no need to buy an 8800 though. My current gaming card is a £140 7600GT, and before that I had a £120 5700LE, which lasted three years ish.

But, that way, Console beat PCs in the Eye candy department.

Nonsense, Post. You can run things on max graphics for a couple of years generally with a mid-high range card.
Besides, graphics aren't always everything.

Most people who seriously game on PCs have cases that are at least as interesting as a console, if not more. So much more customisation for PC cases, too - all sorts of glowing fans and stuff, case windows, hundreds of different cases, and proper case modding if you're into that sort of thing.

Hell, the days of the beige box are long gone even from regular Dell/HP/whatever computers - even they're starting to make some attempt and not making their regular cases look shocking.

Yes, the beige box has been succeeded by the black box. Alliteration and everything

But the black box is at least slightly curvy and interesting and stuff, generally, whereas the beige box was literally a box.

That's a Dell small form factor workstation box. Hardly the epitome of case design.
That beige box is almost as hideous as the screen on it.

Never seen a 'beige box' before, but how exactly does it look better than that beauty of a flatscreen?
