A Game of Thrones - George R R Martin

Going to be a while before I finish it though.

Lords and Ladies - Terry Pratchett
The Gormenghast Trilogy - Mervyn Peake
I'm reading it too!

Also, the Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. It's bizarre.
I wish I were a cat-dragon
A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking
"If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination ... no more men!" - Einstein
"I like quoting Einstein. Know why? Because nobody dares contradict you." - Studs Terkel.
<@Ximenez> Sentynel: But i have a life? No. Qed.
Foundation and Empire - Isaac Asimov

I've been wanting to read the Foundation saga for ages but never found the time. It's pretty awesome so far, although slightly confusing in places.
Bartimaeus: It won't be the only mad thing about if you let this lot go. Check out that one at the end. He's taken the form of a footstool. Weird...but somehow I like his style.
Nathaniel: That is a footstool. No one's using that Pentacle.
Oooh, I've been meaning to read those, they're just so much to read...

A Clash of Kings - George R.R. Martin. ASOIAF is a little more explicit than the stuff I usually enjoy reading, but Martin's a damn good writer. Plus I've always had a weakness for ensemble casts with good characters.

The Cater Street Hangman - Anne Perry. Been getting back into mystery novels lately. This one's pretty good, although a little reminiscent of a cheesy soap opera. But there's a lot of interesting background about the time period it's set in and it did a pretty good job of misleading me about who the killer was; I interpreted the facts the right way, I just assumed they lead to a different character.

(I'm doing book reviews now in a feeble attempt to get back into writing again :D )

The best mystery novels I like is Perry Mason. He is a criminal lawyer so one gets to know a lot about court proceedings and law terms.

I am reading both A Short History of Time (Stephen Hawking) and Genome (by Matt Ridley).

Sounds interesting, think I'll check those out.

But not right now, because I now have the new Thursday Next book. *excited*

Edit: Apparently it was out in February? How did I miss this!? Still, it is mine now. ^_^ I shall read it while travelling on Friday I should think.

Finished Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Beginning Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie.
Wow Sent, that was quick.

Is Water for Elephants any good? Apparently it started out as a NaNoWriMo book (which really isn't an indicator of it's quality, I just thought that was cool).

That's what...

Yeah, it started out as NaNoWriMo book, but obviously the quality far exceeds it a typical entrance.

It's not too bad, there's some good moments, but it's a still fairly unspectacular. The plot is OK, the pacing is somewhat slow, though deliberate. While I do like the ending, the progression of events are rather boring and expected.

But probably the worst bit are the characters, which the core three are Jacob, Marlena, and August. Of these three, August is the most fascinating - Jacob is just some uninteresting boy who's horny for Marlena, while Marlena is pretty shallow. August is interesting because of his conflicting personalities, but I hate that the author (Sara Gruen) degrades him to a cardboard character by the end of the novel because she wants to focus on Jacob and Marlena getting it on.

Now while all that above seems like a terrible novel, that's only cause I'm focusing on the flaws. It's actually not a bad novel, and it's worth the time to invest in it. Just definitely not a classic.
Finished Sammy Keyes and the Wedding Crasher
This is the 13th book in the series. They are not great; but worth a read. And there are supposed to be 20.

Thoroughly mediocre book, that.
sentynel is gay
I am with David.
I never got around to completing that book. Though one reason could be that I have it as an ebook.

Okay, that was a bad joke. Have to agree with them though, I never even finished it. Might give it another try, eventually.

No more Thursday for me for awhile. Got my wisdom teeth out and I'm afraid I'll bust a stitch if I laugh too much. Back issues of Macleans it is then.
