Fine, then, he's an anthropomorphic personification of dreams, happy Mr. Pedant? I was simplifying it a bit.

^Anthropomorphic personifications are always great. I am definitely going to have to look into this.

I'm on break, but I haven't really read anything but baking recipes. Oops, going to have to fix that.

I had to read it again, just to convince myself that it's no good. And the ridiculous amount of weird names are pretty hard to remember.

Hm. Chronologically, the first Culture novel is Consider Phlebas. This is the first one I read, but the protagonist is fighting against the Culture.
The Player of Games is the second chronologically and the first focusing in the Culture itself. It's generally regarded as a better introduction to the Culture.
They're both really good books, however. Your call.

I have a confession: I have not read Fahrenheit 451.

Until today. This is a pretty fantastic book, though I do find it hilarious that almost all the characters are so articulate even when they're supposedly dumb conformists suppressed by society. Oh Beatty.
