I'm not sure the creation of new spirits would be quite crowd sourced like that. You'd figure magicians of that era would want to have more control over the process for themselves and also they want to look better than everyone else, thus the inevitable attempts to out-pretentious one another in their naming choices.

Imagine a magician tries to go along with the pretentious latin or greek name theme, and they screwed up and named their spirit something awful. Like they gave them the latin word for 'underwear' or something.

Not likely, most--if not every--magicians are intellectuals, and to perform their ritual they need to master some ancient languages (greek, latin, hieroglyphic, you name it), but there is a possibility, tough, if the magician do it purposely
