they are fables with morals, the morals are the important things
Actually, a lot of that stuff is historically accurate.

And I believe it. I being a christian, but hey, I have an open mind to stuff like Bartimaeus, the Da Vinci Code, and Harry Potter.

where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

adam and eve, jhonas, noah... they never existed, the morals are important though i beleive in the new testament
I am Bartimaeus, Sakhr al-Jinni!! I am N'gorso the Mighty, and the SERPENT OF SILVER PLUMES!! I have spoken with Solomon, and rebuilt the walls of Uruk, Karnak and Prague!!

Some of the Bible is fiction. Most Christians will agree with that.
Parts are history, and mostly true, and others are partly or wholly
made up. Doesn't mean it's meaningless. The general events are true,
and specific stories convey meanings. Jesus' parables (sp?) are the
same thing, but he admits they're stories.

Yes, of course the parables aren't real, I agree with that.

Before we get into a big philosphy arguement....

Has anyone read Artemis Fowl or Alex Rider?

I found Alex Rider too farfetched, but I still enjoyed the one book I read.

The catholic church, actually.

Artemis disappoints.

I've read both. Got bored with Alex Rider after a couple of books. Fowl is mostly good.

I like Fowl. Who imagined Vin Deisel as Butler? 'Cause I did.

Actually, the guy from the Hitman games. *Sigh* Opal Deception was so... so.... I can't find the words. *Kills self.*

It wasn't as good as the other 3, but by the time I got it I didn't really care. I was so desperate to read it.

I did! I wish I could substitute that image with something else, Butler's supposed to be Eurasian.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I love the Alex Rider books, though they are far-fetched.

And Artemis Fowl was--and still is--one of my all time favorite fantasy series. Though the Opal Deception made me cry.

No, just really sad.

I didn't like all the deaths either. Root was like the best character.

My Mom likes the books too.

And he was her favorite character. She didn't take it well.

Has anyone read Sabriel? I just finished it and it's awesome.

What is it? My favourite character was Arty of course. He so obnoxious with his tea.

I havent read The Opal Deception yet, i liked the other books though. I think one of the books that I like the most that is similar is Lord of the Rings (yes, i know that that is actually six books). Harry Potter is just amazing, and the Eragon series is good, although it could be accused of being an allagory.

As for the whole Da Vinic Code thing, I read it, and I thought it was a good book. The church is over reacting, its not as if the book is telling people no to be Christian.

I read Lotr as well. I liked the ending. It's better than the movies, 'cause it explains so much more.

Yeah, and when you read it, you discover so much more.
