Not that I'm telling you how to vote or anything.

The bit that cracks me up about these conspiracy theories is that somehow, his devious evil plan to destroy America requires that he spend his first four years in office as a somewhat disappointing but generally fairly innocuous Democratic president, get re-elected for a second term, and *then* destroy the country.Didier wrote:I tried looking up similar things about Obama....
Best I could find was something along the lines of: "Obama is an antichrist-socialist-Nazi-Muslim who wants to abort all your babies and let the terrorists win"

If anything's a conspiracy it's party politics, particularly in a dual-party system. People endlessly cycle between a couple of near-identical "choices", the balance endlessly wobbling between the options due to demographic changes and a handful of voters in swing states conned into believing in the choice, while the vast majority of voters follow their side regardless of policy like their favourite football team because their parents did and everyone they know does, hating and fearing anything with the other side's label and never needing to engage their brains. It's not like there's much of a choice, but people keep pretending there is.
