The bit that cracks me up about these conspiracy theories is that somehow, his devious evil plan to destroy America requires that he spend his first four years in office as a somewhat disappointing but generally fairly innocuous Democratic president, get re-elected for a second term, and *then* destroy the country.Didier wrote:I tried looking up similar things about Obama....

Expecting conspiracy theories to make any sense are we? :P
What honestly baffles me is how much one-sided nonsense I keep hearing (eg. anything our side does is without reproach, anything your side does is going to destroy America) and people screaming and fighting and saying horrible things to each other, when the two main parties are actually quite similar in terms of opinions/political leanings atm. It's not like there's much of a choice, but people keep pretending there is.
That being said, while I've been fairly disappointed about how little Obama has done (why the hell hasn't Guantanamo Bay been closed yet!?) Romney's worse, and Paul Ryan downright scares me. I guess it could have been even worse, at least they didn't end up with Bachmann or Perry or any of those other whackjobs.
I guess I'll just have to sit up here in Canada and be condescending, I'm not happy with who we've got leading our country either but I like our system better.![]()

If anything's a conspiracy it's party politics, particularly in a dual-party system. People endlessly cycle between a couple of near-identical "choices", the balance endlessly wobbling between the options due to demographic changes and a handful of voters in swing states conned into believing in the choice, while the vast majority of voters follow their side regardless of policy like their favourite football team because their parents did and everyone they know does, hating and fearing anything with the other side's label and never needing to engage their brains. People who twist politician's words don't deserve to be quoted here. Anyone who complains about Obama because he's anti-tax -cut is probably crazy and racist or both and everything they say should be ignored.
Donald Trump is apparently holding $5M of charity money over Obama's head and telling him to release his college transcript. Why does that matter? Bush was in power for 8 years and his college transcript was a joke and noone cared.
