Yeah... this is what happens when we take on a relatively large role and the rest of NATO are d!cks by not supporting us, and the public wants Harper to pull us out when we need to stay committed to make sure our progress is not wasted.
You know, I am starting to think the best way to solve the Afghanistan problem is to first solve the Pakistan problem. Pakistan, like everyone knows, is indispensable in solving the Afghanistan problem. The problem with Pakistan is, it nurtures some terrorists groups while launches a war on terror against the rest (well, initially it nurtured all including the Taliban). This won't work as the various terrorist groups are more or less linked and it becomes increasingly difficult to separate one from the other. Many of the Al-Qaeda leaders now live in Pakistan and there was even this case about the US accusing Pakistan's ISI of tipping of terrorists. BTW, that link even shows that the US believes the situation in Western Pakistan is causing instability in Afghanistan.
Now mind you, I am not accusing the Pakistan government of supporting terrorism, but its intelligence agency, the ISI, and the military. The two have more power than the Pak government has. And everyone knows that. Why on earth does Hillary Clinton, when on trips to Pakistan, spend 1 hour discussing issues with the Prime Minister and President and 3 hours with the army chief? And I sometimes doubt Pakistan's (meaning army and ISI's) commitment to even bringing peace in Afghanistan. India spends more than a billion dollars constructing schools, hospitals, roads etc. in Afghanistan and Pakistan goes and bombs the Indian embassy there, trying to force the Indians to leave the country.
Oh, and if you want to verify anything I said- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakistan_a ... _terrorism. There are loads more links, but I thought that one summed everything well. (Oh, and a fun fact, the Pakistan media and, to an extent, the government believes that the US government carried out 9/11, the London government 7/7 and the Indian government 26/11. Because we all apparently want a reason to blame the Muslim world.)

Trust me, make Pakistan a true, democratic country with the government having the sole say, and Afghanistan suddenly won't seem such a problem.
Mind you Pakistan has a lot of work to be done.

And this is odd...

I don't know why, but I really admire the Thais and Thailand is an awesome country (I have gone there). That country is full of vitality and fun-loving people (at least that was my impression). And shopping there with their "Madhams" (Madam), was a wondeful experience. Very nice, friendly people. And they do what they want (like that article showed).

I've gotta say, pouring blood at the feet of your enemies is a pretty badass nonviolent protest.

If I had the resources, I'd paint everything with it.

So... I'd rather NATO runs about four million troops into Afghanistan, preferably from all points of the compass, for about six months. Then pull all but about the current amount out.
Should be alright, if the logistics weren't such a bitch.
And, if Pakistan wouldn't welcome half those running with open arms (half of the rest with back doors, I'm sure).

Also, healthcare. Bleh.

I see Dansariki the republican doesn't like it.

How about the close vote on the bill?

121(or 119) - 112 I think...
219-212. They needed 216 to pass it.

Yeah people who do that sort of thing are retarded. It's a healthcare bill, not genocide. Like it or not, violence is never necessary in that sort of situation.

Oh, such things happen there too?
That makes me feel so much better ;) .

Yup, that is a really stupid reaction.

YEAH!!! Loonie at parity with the US dollar! Not that it actually affects me, but it would've made my NY trip cheaper.

Woo. Suck it Americans.

Anyway, the Catholic Church is screwed from child abuse scandals...including the Pope possibly? I did always find those priests creepy...

What happened to the Church? They used to be able to declare wars! And burn traitors at the stake! Now they're getting pwned for child abuse.
People are finally waking up. High time. How can someone seriously trust a person who claims to be a god-man or messenger of god or anything? Religion is a very personal thing. It is directly between a believer and his/her maker.

Yes, the Euro and the Pound too has gone down against the INR! We would be saving almost $1000.

Any takes on Obama's recent nuclear stance? Do y'all think it is enough?

Why is he pulling a Gladstone?

And I'm quite surprised that DC has decided to get drunk.
