What's this, left wing and libertarian, DC? Sounds awfully like someone else I know..

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.08

All authority should be questioned.

I have to agree with DC here. You can't deter someone who hates you rabidly enough to want to blow themselves up and take you with them. You can make it harder for them to attack you but you can never stop them. The best you can do is try and stop doing things that make them hate you, like invading their countries.

Wow that's extreme left...

Or we could "break their minds and rearrange it..." =P

You can monitor emails all you like, it's a simple matter to use a little public key encryption to prevent anybody reading them. You can ban encryption if you want, but then internet business will come crashing down and the bad guys will simply find ways of disguising the encrypted messages in otherwise innocuous traffic. Much the same argument can be applied to almost any oppressive security system you choose to name. You violate the privacy of your citizens, inevitably get false positives, and meanwhile the truly dedicated bad guys will slip through your net.
Hey, I agree with you on this one. I just said the government would give security as a reason for monitoring things & people would be stupid enough to fall for it. And the people are to blame for it, not the government.

More than that, we must prevent the young children from being brainwashed by the terrorists. Tough I know, but that's necessary. The terrorists believe they are right & hence do such extreme things. They believe they are fighting for their religion & oppressed brothers & sisters & that belief has to be squashed.
Sorry, if it all sounds garbled, I happen to be chatting with 3 people simultaneously.

Come on people, we all new Sent was this left, why do you think he and I bitch about a lot of things? :P

I'm with Sent and N&B on most of this, but out of curiosity, what do you think we can do to stop aforementioned brainwashing?
Just curious.

Ahh, belief, the archenemy of reason.
Why do you think Logic and the Church don't go well together?

There are, as I've said repeatedly, caveats and conditions which must be satisfied before government can be removed. =p

Ah well... Anarchy sounds fun, but I'm a guy who does enjoy his piece and quiet.
An RPG every now n then would be alright.

So... What caveats and conditions would have to be satisfied before we can remove you, Gladdy and Nat from power?

You would have to be part of a society capable of running without Big Brother looking over your collective shoulders the whole time. You'd have to be capable of keeping yourselves in line by mutual consent (this would probably involve the forum software adding a collective moderation system). Obviously this is not going to happen any time soon.

Actually, I wasn't really thinking much while I typed out that post, so sorry if the steps below sound rather stupid (which as a matter of fact is).
As we all now, most terrorist (or even violent) activities are carried out in the name of religion. It would be really great if eminent leaders (esp those associated with religion & have huge popularity amongst their masses) come forward & condemn attacks carried out by people of their religion & start massive movements to educate people. They must make it clear that nowhere in the Quran, Bhagwat Gita, Bible etc do you see phrases which actually point out that violence is acceptable & those who think otherwise are blasphemous. Recently, I've read so many accounts on how small, innocent children are driven to take arms & slaughter people because they believe their God wanted them too. And to think that all of them got hoodwinked by the same reason......it seems impossible! Really, there must be something done to reduce such misbelief. I know it's damn tough but surely more can be done to prevent young minds from getting corrupted.

Yeah. In my world religions class, we looked at various "Golden Rules" for a bunch of different religions. All are along the lines of "Don't Do Bad Stuff to People."

I don't get it.

That's where selective quoting saves the day. (Or ruins I guess.)
