Sure. They were able to talk to Kitty there; no reason they couldn't talk to each other,

Yeah, but aren't they all 'one?' Maybe Barti had to make an effort to individualize himself in order to talk to Kitty and normally he'd...um...just float around enjoying the essence?

Yeah, possibly. But on the whole I agree with Sent, I think it's possible for spirits to talk to the other spirits there. But when was Faquarl last in OP? Before the plan was made or after? He could as Sent said, however requested another spirit to pass on the message.

Barti quite specifically says once they've been summoned they're forever slightly partitioned from the Other Place; never quite able to lose their individuality. Besides, if Barti can individualise himself to speak to Kitty, Nouda and a messenger could also do so.

Yep.
They are still 'one' but with seperate identities, they could communicate via messenger, but I'd figure they'd just talk, instead of jeopardizing things with a messenger, even if it is someone in the plot.

Well, I wonder what Bart, Faquarl & Jabor did when they were in OP together? Play the ignoring game? I don't see Bart keeping quiet.
Couldn't they use magic & stuff in OP?

Mmm, that's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe Bartimaeus could only individualize himself in the other place when Kitty was there, distrupting it and trying to bring order. But that IS interesting. Could enemy spirits fight in the other place?

There's no suggestion that spirits could fight in the Other Place (or even that they'd want to - Barti may not like Faquarl, but killing him off in the OP would be far too risky and not really serve any purpose).

I always thought spirits couldn't communicate with each other in the Other Place... ^o)

That's why like Barti and Queezle hadn't talked in ages...So , if he liked her , ( which in the books it says that he does) wouldn't he have talked to her in the other place...??And wouldn't spirits have friends if they were able to talk to one another??

I suspect they generally avoid it as it goes against their whole objection to being individuals thing, but they can communicate if need be - Faquarl was already planning to violate that in a big way by going to Earth permanently; just sending messages in the OP's nothing in comparison.

Yes, I agree. They wouldn't want to individualize themselves while in the other place, even if it just means talking to one another. They are all one and the same. I think that it was just because Kitty was there and she used Bartimaeus as her guide during the reverse summoning that Bartimaeus was able to (or was willing to) individualize himself.

Not to mention it'd probably slow down the recuperation process.

Think of the movie Highlander, they don't fight on holy ground. Spirits don't in the other place, they must just have a mutual trust that while in their home world all doings on Earth are forgotten. UNLESS, however, Faquarl is hatching a world domination plan.

Even then, he's just plotting, not fighting.
Makes sense.
Also relates to something Bart said in AoS, something along the lines of it's deeply impolite to bring up human conflicts, which Djinn are always forced to choose sides.
Reminding an Uttuku of a war he lost is both impolite and unwise.

It's when Bart's in the ball in the Tower of London.
I don't have the books on hand to look it up.

No need, you're correct. Yes, so Faquarl's probably broken some OP agreement in order to communicate with Nouda. But what I want to know is (if the spirits are all one in the OP) if the other spirits would be able to listen to Nouda and Faquarl talking.

Doubt that...

Not necessarily. Bartimaeus wouldn't have heard any of it, he was stuck on Earth, and any other spirits who would have been in the other place and heard would have:

a) Not cared, similar to Bartimaeus they just wanted to stay in the OP

b) Heard and supported the plan, and put forward their name to be summoned or whatever

or
c) For some reason objected to the plan and wanted to stop it, but couldn't do anything about it because they were in the OP. The only spirit who could possibly fit into this option would be Simpkin, but he's dead (obviosly).

Besides, it seems that they just be in the Other Place. Usually they wouldn't do anything.

Just thought I should remind both of you.
