Guess what? I finally read Lockwood and loved it!

What's with all the shipping already?
[+] Spoiler
Personally, I think Lucy will end up with Lockwood and George with the ghostjar.

Anybody know anything about the next book? Will there be a next book?

The next book is due to be released in 2014 and is tentatively titled The Whispering Skull.

I don't think Lockwood is the type for that sort of thing. He's like the Sherlock Holmes of the series

Yes, I noticed the similarities too :P
But I think Lockwood is more carefree and, of course, younger

Not reading anything because spoilers but I HAVE THE BOOK. Not the prettier UK cover though... *sigh*

Also the cashier is a Bartimaeus fan, so that was great.

Why the weird face at Lucy/George? They're literally thrown at each other (snicker at the double use of 'literally') like cats in heat. Their arguing only means they love each other with passion!
Luciene:

I think Lockwood's exactly the type to keep secrets. Bit like Sherlock ;)

I think we already established that Lockwood is a mini-Sherlock

I can see that! He has an archenemy, he solves mysteries because he loves solving mysteries.

But I think Sherlock is more prepared and organized than Lockwood. He's always like ten steps ahead of everyone else while Lockwood forgets to bring chains. And Lockwood isn't the manic depressive, cocaine snorting type (yet).

Edit: Jenny - If he had Type 3 Ghosts in the house, wouldn't the ghost Lucy brought home activate it? Also, he was the one lecturing her about letting the undead roam their halls. He isn't a hypocrite.

Bit different if it's your folks, though? Also, I did say it was a crazy theory. Also, type 3s seem quite complacent really

He quite explicitly has at least one Type 3 ghost in the house already, though he may or may not personally realise it! Lucy's accident with the ghost is dangerous because it's uncontained; he clearly has no problem with keeping contained ghosts around. If he'd turned the forbidden room into a ghost trap, for example, that wouldn't be an issue.

I don't think he actually has his parents sitting around as ghosts, but I *do* think they're somehow connected with the origins of the Problem.
