I can't exactly put my finger on why, but while I was reading HP I spent a lot of time hating Harry and thinking Draco was awesome ^o)
I don't know, aside from Draco breaking Harry's nose, he was kind of a wuss.

Or do you think Harry's presence just makes him nervous? ;)
Is it bad that I have something just as dirty to respond to this?
I doubt you actually do, but hey, feel free to say it. If so, do it quick before they remove your post. :P
Should I PM it instead? =p

Nor did he marry Kitty and produce a dozen children with the names of something out of fanfic. Nor was the last line "all was well."

Erm...I'm totally not ripping on another series...
Actually I think Stroud was TRYING to get Nathaniel killed. What kind of giant loophole would it be for Kitty to stop being a freaking stubborn ass and get the heck out of firing range so Nathaniel could keep the amulet? Then barti could put a shield around them to protect from glass and giant iron beams while the ammy protects from magic. He lives! But noOoOo
The amulet was usless in the last book, and it was so powerful. But he dies and its so sad its good. But Im reminded of anne of green gables where anne and her friends try to think of the sadest stories just to cry. Oh such a good story! it was wonderfully sad!

And on the Harry Potter think, the reason I dont like the ending is because Harry wins because he has a more powerful wand. So it really did come down to nothing but power in the end. Huh?
I didn't know Barti had that much power to withstand the full blast of that stick. Plus I figured he was already weakened because Nat was too.

As for Kitty, I'm confused as to how Nat's death could have potentially been part of her fault. Then again, it's been a while since I've read PG so refresh me.

The shield wouldn't have worked against the iron.

Oh great >.< >.< sorry

I thought that if kitty would have stoped insisting being nearby Nat would have taken the amulet and maybe lived.

Even if Nat had been able to survive the magic blast by wearing the amulet, Bartimaeus would doubtless have been killed, so there would be nobody to protect Natty boy from falling glass, iron, random passing murderer, etc. He knew he was going to his death, he gave Kitty the amulet because he wanted to feel sure that she would be protected even after he died. Which was cute.
I thought the amulet did save Kitty in the end. All that white light which came out when the building collapsed were absorbed by the amulet as Kitty was making her way out.
Yeah, when Kitty went to the building after Nat's death, it was mentioned that she felt only truly safe because of the amulet. So, that helped too.

I feel like I've missed something...
I thought the book ended with Bartimaeus talking about how Nat probably knew what he thought of him anyway... When does Kitty ever go back inside?
Bartimaeus: It won't be the only mad thing about if you let this lot go. Check out that one at the end. He's taken the form of a footstool. Weird...but somehow I like his style.
Nathaniel: That is a footstool. No one's using that Pentacle.
In the chapter before. Where the meeting between the commoners and the magicians are organized.

Ohhhh ok. I really should read PG again, so I don't make mistakes like this.

I actually hated what Kitty said in the end.
"So much for your promisses".
Bleh. They are DEAD -well, Barti wasn't, but she didn't know. And Natty gave you the amulet to protect you. What did you expect?

Also, Harry Potter's ending sucked. Seriously. Harry needed to die. Both Voldemort and Harry should have died.

And, I can't remember, but I think I cried about Tonks' and Remus' deaths. I loved those characters.

I only liked Harry in the first book -which I read in Swedish. Yay for me-, when he didn't know about the prophecy, and was shy and cute, and innocent. But that's just me.

Yeah, I didn't like Harry at all as the book progressed.

Just finished reading the series in preparation for RoS (that's why I haven't been on here for a couple of days). This time, I kinda felt Nat's death was appropriate. I mean, his career had fallen apart, he had nobody in his life, and he was disgusted with himself. He had nothing to lose. On top of that, his single death would save the lives of thousands of innocent (unlike him) commoners.

I think Stroud made the right choice.
