Mmm, I think Nathaniel's actions (of assiness) were mainly a result of his childhood, the way he was raised and all that. I'm reading AOS again, and it's clear he's been brought up with these (prejudice) beliefs. At heart, though, he was good. Just twisted from an early age.

I agree that Nat only acted a little uptight because of the way he was raised, and I think Bart would understand this, forgive him, and like him more than Kitty anyhow.

I say Kitty, but it still is sad Nathanial died. He shouda kissed Kitty when he had the chance. Not that he was even worthy of her.... teehee.

Kitty... or Nathaniel? I can't choose! Of course, Kitty went to the other side and all, but she didn't have Barti in her body... Nathaniel did. And Nathaniel saved him. I don't know... Most of you people are choosing Kitty, but I'm not really convinced about that (maybe because I don't ship BartixKitty, but I kinda like BartixNatty)...

I think he liked Ptolemy the most. I could even say that Barti loved him (yup, I'm a BartixPtolemy shipper too... xD).

And, I have to say Nat, because... well, I like Nat better, and because Kitty had to be asked to visit the Other Place out of necessity, and Nat just basically saved Bart out of the goodness of his heart.

I think Bartimaeus loved them both in the end. Their actions both echoed those of his master Ptolemy (Nathaniel's dismissal in the end, Kitty's adventure to the Other Place). As for who he loves more, I'm not so sure, but I went with Kitty anyway.

Why would he love nat more than kitty? Nat was awful to him. I think Barti is just to forgiving.

this is a very good question. i think he must have liked them both the same at the end (although i think he would've played down his affection for nat a bit... or a lot). he cared for kitty but at the end of the day he KNEW nat better and everyone seems to forget that. bart knew kitty for possibly even less time nat knew kitty and he was only with her for, at the max, three days in five years.

bart and nat barely knew kitty (much to my chargrin, they should've had more page time together). then again those sort of life saving situations bring people together way more than normal cause of the stress and going through it. but again that's something bart's used to.

i really don't know. the same probably. though he's always going to have more respect for kitty.

I think him and kitty get along loads better but he's come to love Nat or could come to. I look at Barti/Nat friendship as something like "gah, you grew on me <3 :/ ' and its quite deep. But the chemistry(friendshipwise) between Barti and Kitty was instant and of course out of his own mouth he would throw himself on a bed of nails for her + other torturous deaths, and theres just more traits to like about Kitty. And he JUST met her.

yeah, theres always that 'if nat wouldn't have died' thing. thats what makes this question hard. it would've been alot easier if they'd have survied to know more about each other. so we could see them in a more normal situation or something or we could've had a proper reaction to what bart thought of nat after his sacrifice.

not that the ending we got was bad. there was only one thing that ever annoys me about the end now and that's that nat said 'say hello to kitty for me' and not 'say goodbye to kitty for me'. that always annoys me. the convo between the two at the end was stereotypically british and if it would've been all heartfelt and cheesy i wouldn't have liked it so much. it was refreshing basically.

anyway, i guess i think bart thought of them both the same after nat died but before, i think he felt something for him because he saved him in the golems eye and i could never understand why he did that, nat had the same reaction i did when kitty told him as i did when i read that part. i guess he remembered the kid he used to be a still held onto it as he thought he'd been slightly like ptolemy once.

he'd never liked him in the books as much as he did kitty but maybe afterwards he thought more of him because he was a magician and he'd overcome all his brainwashing and became the boy that was like ptolemy again. with kitty she'd always been like that, with him it took effort. (not that i'm nat/bart...eww. i'm nat /kitty. not really into slash) so maybe he would've thought more of nat, grudgingly. maybe not cared for him more though.

i dunno. am i contradicting myself??? (wait, how long is this?)
