we said that already, we're just reminising about our mental images before they were killed

Yes, they were.

But I think people liked it for a reason. Because forgeiners went to see it.

It was British, it was in. It was propoganda.

Those people don't have much, so they're much more likely to like what they have. Magicians, on the other hand, have the world to their feet. They know what's good and what's crap.

The magicians just had too suffer lol
'"That's right," I said "Me. What, did you think that I'd be all nice and quiet for you? Think again, sonny. There are two of us in this body now. Check this out."
To prove my point I lifted one of his fingers and methodically picked his nose. He uttered a squawk of protest. "Stop that!"'
I lowered the arm. "That's not all I can do if I put your mind to it"'

Well, it was sort of comic relief. It was funny seeing them get all annoyed. (In my opinion anyway.)

Mandrake really got annoyed with Makepeace.

I don't blame him...All his plays sounds like really, really bad remakes of Shakespeare.

Maybe he was the Shakespear of that world.

"Oh, god, it's a musical."

Yet another reason to hate the theater.

He can't be shakespeare. Shakespeare's actually good. I trust Nat and Kitty's judgement

I do as well.

And I agree about Shakespear, but Stroud doesn't mention him, does he?

No...probably 'cause he lived like in the 1400's and wasn't relevant. Nat didn't seem to like fun much.

Yeah, Nat is the type to perfer staying home and reading.

Although, I'm not a fan for the theater that much either. I'll look at it but I can't 'appreciate the beauty' of it.

A good book is a good book.

Actually, plays can be pretty good, the funny ones I've seen are pretty... well, funny. Just wait for holograms.

No, plays are okay, but if there's a book version of the thing, I'd rather read the book.

Plays are annoying 'cause I always end up sitting behind someone tall, and I can't see a thing.

Ughhh! I hate it when that happens.

I've been in plays, but I've never watched one.
But then we had to watch a Romeo and Juliet in English and OH GOD.
We were like, "Just stop the tape and give us the movie with Leonardo Dicaprio in it."
Nat couldn't easily be tired of Makepeace, he's his only friend.
Nat: You're the best friend I've ever had.
Makepeace: Best, or ONLY?
Sorry. I just had to do that.

Nat has other friends. Remember, he's powerful and influential. Also, all the commoners loved him the most. He also has Jane, but that's a different story..

And I watched the R&J play yesterday...and they were trying to be different. Tybalt was a girl, Mercrutio had no shirt and was doing very dirty things to Benvolio & Romeo and everything was Ancient Egyptian.
Anyways...I preferred the original and the Leo one
I've always thought the most well-loved-by-commoners part could've been better explained in P's Gate. I wonder what Nat did to earn that.

On the treatment of theater in the trilogy...Makepeace's plays might seem a little pathetic, but I think it's interesting how Stroud lists down all the characters at the beginning of each book, almost like a Dramatis Personae kind of thing. I realized that during Shakespeare class. (shows that my mind drifts alot)
Nothing to see here, move along.
