Woo-hoo! Free day! And we are ost definately NOT IN America. In fact, our land mass is greater.
I say night I'm living in the forest of my dream,
I know the night is not as it would seem,
I must believe in something,
So I'll make myself believe it,
That this night will never go.

No.

Yeah, it is. But our population is smaller because pretty much no one lives in Nunavut.

Oh, and the ff is before Ptolemy.

:Heywhere'stherolleyessmilie!?!!: Post. We've got the second biggest landmass worldwide. The first is Russia, and almost no one lives in the cold part of IT either.

@ Luciene: It's nothing like Xena, she wasn't even an Amazon as far as I'm concerned. It's got to do with ancient civilizations and such etc.

I guess the characters werent as developed as they could of been, but they are still quite developed and we can relate to them in some ways. As for them being snotty? Only the characters who were meant to be snotty like Whitwell came across as snotty to me...
Fred Imp
Yeah whitwell was too snooty in my opinion. I could relate to every character except for....tallow. I don't know why, but his buttercup face made me laugh.

Whitwell was snooty, but so was Nat.

All the magicians were snooty. Some less than others.

Whitwell was awesome at the end of PG.

Characters underdeveloped? In my opinion that was the one place in which The Golem's Eye shined. I am surprised that Stroud was able to trash one of his main characters like that. Some authors find that hard -glares at an imaginary Paolini-. We also had the addition of Kitty, who had a very strong personality and Bartimaeus was the same (if not better) as ever.

Edit: And yes, Whitewell really shined at the end of Ptolemy's Gate.

In my opinion that was her best move in the whole thing.
Agree with fenrir on all said. :D

I don't know, I kinda liked the Golem's Eye. In the first book the Resistance was only mentioned a few times. I was happy that I got to learn more about it and its memebers. (Well mostly, Kitty and Anne. They were the only two that made sense)

As for being snotty, almost every magician came across as that, not just Nathaniel.
You are... Isis! ~~~ Isis was the protective goddess and used her magical powers for people in need.

You can hardly blame 'em, though. They've been brought up to think commoners are worthless and that magicians are better than everybody else since they were at the naive age of 5 years old. And this kind of thing was drilled into their mind Every Single Day.

GE Nat is an idiot. That's just the truth. But it's not Nat's fault he was snooty. He was brainwashed by pro-magician propoganda for so long, Mandrake's persona came to the fore, and he had to bury Nathaniel deep inside himself. It's definitely good that Mandrake persona disappeared at the end of PG, but reading from snooty Nat's perspective certainly was an unique experience.
Yeah, its not Nat its the corruption of the Empire. And if u think about it, most magicains are only commoners children who were given away to magicians, so the only thing thats puts them above commoners is the chance of being given up or taken in.

I don't think it disappeared. Sure he became nicer, but like he couldn't even admit to Bartimaeus that he didn't want him to die.

If he had lived, he probably would have tried to manipulate the new Empire.
He would have become PM, and then the commoners would revolt.
