Summoning isn't a weapon, though, any more than a djinni's detonation or the mercenary's fist is. It's an innate ability.

Summoning a spirit to your side to do your bidding (as I think we all assumed from the very begginning) is out of the question, that would just introduce another contestant. If that contestant won the fight, it would not be Nathaniel's victory, would it?

But the summoned spirit would be working for Nathaniel.. (Not that this would necessarily help Nathaniel much; by the time he'd summoned anything Barti would probably have landed a detonation in his face..)
