Thing is, we don't *have* that much data. Most of the spirits we deal with are djinni. We've seen an insane afrit, and 2 higher spirits, one in the process of being summoned, the other one appeared fairly smart until he was smashing a teddy bear (because of the pain ._.).

Oh, we've also dealt with foliots and imps, and they seem smart enough, not as witty as Barti, but then again, Barti *is* an exception, we've seen a fair deal of retard djinni.

Actually not many of the DJINNI we've seen are stupid. It's really only Jabor, mostly the spirits described as "dumb" are foliots and imps, with the occasional Afrit.

And the Uttukus.

Barti really isn't credible in determining the spirit rank intellegence though.

Well, I have also been a little disapointed with the last book. After everything they had been through I expected at least a partially happy ending. I mean, we don't really know what happened to Bart, Kitty, etc. It's like it was left in the wind. I liked the plot and the ending(without the Nat dying part) but it would have beengreat if it wasn't the last book. So.. :hmm:

When I was saying that, I wasn't implying all afrits or mariads were stupid.

Look at Horionous, he just went mad.

Poor guy. Gladstone was such an ass to his Djinni, if I were Honorius I probably would've self-destructed.

Hey Art, Honorious was an afrit, not a djinni.

Do you remember that afrit in Prague that almost killed Barti? First chapter of the Golem's Eye? He was as witty as Barti himself.

And Honorius seemed smart enough, just a tad mad.

Law of Averages, Barti won't be most witty.

I actually think that the afrit in Prague was Honorious. There's no proof, so my friends don't believe me.

It could've been. But there were other afrits, so it's speculation at best -_- It'd be a good thing to ask Stroud, though.

It was one of Gladstone's two bodyguard afrits. Whether it was Honorius or the other one (can't remember his name) we don't know.

He had three, Honorius, Patterknife and... Something.

How do we know it was one of Gladstone's personal afrits?

Cos it says so.
Gladstone just had the two bodyguard afrits, Honorius and Patterknife.

Three.

I think there were only two, and were described as "savage afrits".

Correction. Gladstone had 2 bodyguard afrits, but there were marids in his army, which logically means there were also afrits in his army. Those 2 were simply his personal ones, but the afrit that broke in could've been anyone.

Also, I've been re-reading AoS, and we really have no basis saying Ramuthra was dumb. It was his first summoning ever, and he was still geting used to the earthly constraints and whatnot.

Also: "I see no woman, only a grinning djinn" <--- seems witty enough to me.

It implies that the afrit is one of Gladstone's personal bodyguards, rather than some random afrit in his army. Gladstone probably wouldn't have summoned any more troops than his personal afrits and some marids - even he isn't strong enough to summon that many on his own.

Come on, what would Barti have said in that situation? "I see no woman, only a grinning djinni" is a plain statement of fact.
