True djinni, rather than subclasses like horla or whatever, and not the stupidly powerful ones like Jabor, have a massive range of personalities.
Afrits will obviously vary too, but not over quite the range that djinni do.

Djinni for planning and a marid for execution? Can you imagine a marid taking orders from mere djinni?

I'm sure marids and afrits have some common sense. And I doubt djinn would be able to stay on task for so long. At least Barti.

Jabor was a djinni too, and Faquarl was nearly as strong, and obviously better at planning.
Things like marids don't do planning. They're far too powerful. Taking orders from djinni would be like a djinni being ordered around by an imp. Not going to happen.
