The Spirits for the rest?
And perhaps 'things' for Imps?

Nope. Quit trying to shut us down Dansariki.
Bart's final words were...(insert feelings about it).
Bartimaeus was probably really pissed at Nat for just dismissing him like that, but in truth I thing Bart liked him.

Nah, not pissed. More surprised and more as quote, "typical master" i.e. he was annoyed slightly when he couldn't say to Nat what he thought of him. But Nathaniel would have realized what he had changed back into.
Welcome. :welcome:

Oh, pardon me I'm sure.

Get along with what?
I agree Bartimaeus thought that Nat was a typicasl master but understood Nat's reasonaning for dimissing him.

I took the ending a completely different way;

Nathaniel talking about how Bartimaeus would just mess everything up was him making a last stab (in the way of exchanging insults without real teeth that the two have) at Bartimaeus, acknowledging their history together and their track record for screwing things up. I think Nathaniel was saying it with the utmost affection, and just using it as a joking excuse for why he was letting Bart go. He didn't mean a second of it, and Bart knew that. How COULD he mean it after they'd just done what they'd done together? And same with Bart calling him a typical master. He was playing off the irony, the whole stereotype of magicians that the book set up, and said that Nathaniel was a typical magician, not letting him get a word in, but it was that exact typicality, and not letting Bart argue about going home, that made Nathaniel entirely different for his final redemption. Ahhh I loved it. I don't think Bart loved him, not then. In those few hours after the whole mess started and Nathaniel and Bart combined, there wasn't enough time for love to grow, but Nathaniel was definitely redemmed in Bart's eyes and Bart definitely felt an attachment to him there at the end. If he'd lived, I think they would have become close, and I'm sure that in the thousands of Bart's service that will come, he will talk of Nathaniel in the same way he talks of Ptolemy. Did anyone notice the extreme similarities between Nathaniel and Bart's last scene and Ptolemy and Bart's last scene? Man, I cried my eyes out. I realized what was going to happen about twenty pages from the end... I was pissed lol.

Sorry for the book O.O

I finished reading today today so I have it still in the forefront of my mind :P

i agree with purebloodsquib about the ending, bart was just trying to keep things sarcastic and funny and stuff, him and nat didn't want to get sentimental. and ya, i cried too...
I refuse to talk to anyone who hasn't read the Bartimaeus Trilogy. Guess I'm not going to be able to ask my mom for that raise in my allowance... School might be hard too...

PureBloodSquib put into words exactly how I felt about the ending. I mean, how realistic and in-character would it be if in the last few moments Bart and Nat would have a deep discussion about what happened and how Nathaniel had come back to the light side? Stroud's ending was perfect, because it showed how close the two had become without going all mushy. I still would like for Nathaniel to be alive, but I guess it's the only way he'll stay good. :(

Ya, even I agree with him/her. Nat definately said all that to give Bart a reason on why he was dismissing him. Which, obviously, is false. :welcome: purebloodsquib (are u thinking of Neville?) & Gershwin ( I think I have welcomed u before). Please send in posts regularly.

Bart would hate Nat for not letting him speak at the very end, but then again Bart would forgive and thank Nat for sparing Bart's life and not let anyone summon him from the Other Place (assuming that most people in the human world think he's dead).

Btw, is it possible to resurrect a demon who's dead by just saying their name when summoning?

Doubt it. And with all the damn books repeating it, it's not good to resurrect anything or anyone.

No. That would be absurd. Though I wonder what happens to a dead demon. They would longer be in OP, right?
