Is the Opal Deception really that bad? I was looking forward to read it. And what about the 5th & the 6th?

They're not bad, in my opinion, just the same old plot...
Oh, boring then. Still, I'll risk it.

Hm. The Time Paradox sucked so hard I might not buy this one. He really ruined what at one point was a good series.
Bought it, still haven't read it.

Apparently for this one, Colfer changed the plot because the editor thought it'd fit better with the title. Doesn't bode well.

Time Paradox was good until a certain villain returned again.
Opal pisses me off so much now. I'm fed up with her. She's been the villain, for what, 4 books now? She's predictable and annoying. Personally, I think Cofler should make Orion the villain. That would have been interesting...
How's the latest? From what I've seen there's Turnball and a nice! Artemis. Does not-quite Mary Sue Minerva appear in this book? Should I bother hunting down this book at the library?

IMO, TLC was when the series went downhill. OD was okay, just the usual memory-regain episode. TLC was just so unnecessary :/

I thought it was good, i liked it, then again i also liked the time paradox which most seem to hate so maybe i'm not the best person to comment.

I think minerva's gone for good, in fact i think colfer said that at some point.

i just think its a series you should take with a pinch of salt because if you read it as a serious book you see how rubbish it is. It's like the book equivalent of slapstick compared to wit (basically itself compared to the barti books), wit will always be better because it's clever.

I read it when i feel like something light and superficial to read cause i'm sick of my usual heavy taste in books but still want the whole save-the-world plot. It's fun basically, nothing you have to think too hard about.

if your getting it from the library then definately give it a go, you can't lose anything. It was funny but with a decent storyline that differ's from the usual good vs evil thing even if it felt more like a chapter than an actual story. it was interesting though, i'd definitely recommend it.
The Lost Colonny was bad. It was the last Arty book I read. Becuzz Arty haz magical powerz durr durr!! 8D... Fail.
I haven't read Time Paradox. Don't want to. Is it as bad as I think? Does Opal return for the 50th time?
"When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story".
In TTP Opal does return. ANNOYING BITCH. Eh half of the time it felt like fanservice. Still better than most books out there, so pick it up if you're bored. Otherwise :/

Poor Minerva. What was the point of her existence again? To shove Artemis' puberty down our throats?

Possibly, yeah =p.

I didn't like the seventh book at all. The six was better than the seventh, but still nowhere close to the first three in the series.

Yeah, I had mixed feelings about the Atlantis Complex.
The Atlantis Complex was the penultimate book? So the next book will be the last?

By the way, anyone ever tried translating the stories at the bottom of the books? I did the first and second but the third is MURDER.

Yes.
And it better be good.

Yeah I've done that for each of the books. My copy of Eternity Code had the bottom translated into Gnommish, so I've never actually tried cracking the original code. It looks horrible though, so good luck with that. :P
Bartimaeus: It won't be the only mad thing about if you let this lot go. Check out that one at the end. He's taken the form of a footstool. Weird...but somehow I like his style.
Nathaniel: That is a footstool. No one's using that Pentacle.

Really? I thought the third was pretty intriguing.

But it's only after the 4th that it's murdered.
