Artemis fowl

Book Discussion
Hey.

So, who here likes the Artemis Fowl series. (I'm afraid to insult it too much cuz some people here probalby do)

I think Artemis' character is interesting, but there are too many uneeded side characters with no depth (mulch/holly/butler/julia etc.)

I kept on reading until the 3rd, but the fourth was just too boring for words.

So, Can anyone tell me, does the fourth actually get good if you keep on reading it?
And what's with his girlfriend in the 5th? (I haven't read it, only the summary on the back)

should i bother reading the 5th or just wait for the last one to come out?

Nope. The fourth one was a total disaster for fowl. Never again...

And the Fifth looks worse.

I thought the first book was good, but then it started in a slow decline, getting worse and worse.
I read the opal deception and that was extremely pointless.
Artemis fowl shows how some series's should be stopped at the first book

The fifth book was utterly ghastly
Nothing to see here, move along.
I read the first book a while ago and I wasn't particularly attracted to the story. However, I may still read the series - some day.

I love them.

But....

Did anyone else notice the huge gaping plot hole in book one?

Guess not..

Plot holes are fun.

Well, the solution to the end is if you come out of your current consious state, you'll leave the time stop safely and move on.

However, Butler and Holly at least are knocked out and they don't move on.

Huh? You've got the first part right, but Holly wasn't knocked out, Arty released her before the blue-rinse. Butler did move on, that's why he survived the blue-rinse

Winter is right... Holly is concious before the time stop, and the other people who get knocked out, Artemis, Butler and Juliet, all move on and survive the blue rinse.

Yeah, Butler did almost get knocked out by dwarf flatulence and troll claws, almost.

Book five? I am not touching it.

No words can express my annoyance at Colfer for killing off one of the best characters (Root) in #4 and for introducing a vile character in #5. It really saddens me how this series is declining. Poor Arty and co. really deserve better.

It's a cruel world.

I read the fifth one. I know, I'm hypocrite, but anything is good in an airport.
I actually think the fifth was the best one.
Wow. Um. That is unusual. Most people hated it.

The first one was a gem, it was all downhill from there.

How can a book with a gaping plot hole be a gem?

I personally liked two and five the best.
