AoS: THE Perfect Christmas Present

Amulet Of Samarkand
But when have the producers worried about the correct description? They set a very bad example actually. The movies always make it seem as if only the good-looking ones can be noble, smart, brave & the rest. And that's why everyone is just worried about how they look nowadays.

Fair point. The media is resposible for self-consiousness nowadays, but still, they would have to be true to the books, otherwise how would they include Bartimaeus's jibes involving Nat's appearance? - A large source of the jokes in all the books.
When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney.

Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you.
Yeah, very true. Hope the producers see it the way we do. Nat is sort of an anti-hero in the first 2 books, so I hope they don't feel it necessary to use a handsome guy.

Anti-hero? Hmm. I know he had some character flaws but I was kinda rooting for him, if you know what I mean. If you look at it from his point of view, you feel sorry for him - at least a little bit, anyway. But I can see what you're getting at. Bartimaeus is the character you really like.

Yeah, but he's the main character and gets the most screentime.

And can anyone else imagine them making Nat emo?

Haha. He could have easily become one, had things ended differently in the first book. Locked in his room all the time, obsessed with revenge, self-absorbed, selfish, attention-seeking. Good one.

The problem with that is he wouldn't last long. Sooner or later, he would summon a djinni and command it to hurt him, then bye-bye Natty.
"Give me back my face!" "Look at that sunset. Like blood and melted cheese."
