A comparison between Deathly Hallows & Ptolemy's G

Ptolemy's Gate
Don't u guys think there are MAJOR similarities between Nathaniel & Severus Snape? They both lead a very SIMILAR life & are treated similarly too. But who do u think is better?

Personally I like Severus better, but my opinion is prob tainted by all the hype. Ask me again in a year and I might say Nat.

Sev and Nat aren't all that similar. Nat is a traditional die-for-the-greater-good hero while Snape is a tragic anti-hero. I know this needs more elaboration but I'm too tired right now. Sryz.
Nothing to see here, move along.
Nat's was a lot shorter... :D

Meh. Some similarities, but I agree with WT.

Except for Severus>Nat. Nat>Severus.

They're both Queezle!

I feel sorry for Snape, though. I miss them both...
Look, Queezle.

Snape was loved more than Nat, I think. Though Nat was a hero....and Snape was really an anti-hero bully.

It's hard to say. They were both very developed characters who did very interesting things.

As a person, I think John Mandrake would have been slightly more fun to chill with, but Severus is much more...amazinglycoolsexgodthatsufferedunrequitedlove?

WinterTabby, back me up here :P

um... how were they alike other than the fact that they both had black hair?

I think that people compare them because they aren't the nicest people who end up be heroes.

Or anti-hero in Snape's case.

You can't sell me. I'm a human.

And on topic, Snape and Nat lead very different lives.

Snape was an abused child who went to school and found home and Lily. He then lost Lily to the Dark Arts. Further on, he turned back on LV because he killed Lily. Snape spent the rest of his life protecting Harry for Lily.

Nat was given up by his parents to the government, who gave him to the Underwoods. Ms. Underwood was very kind to him. Eventually, he was humiliated by Lovelace and wanted revenge. This brought upon a series episodes that each gave him power. He wanted to rise in the government more than anything and became nasty. In the end, he died a brave person, protecting his country and letting Bart go.

Many have asked how Nat & Severus are similar, here's my view,
1. Both were hated by the common mass ( Nat becoz he was a magician & Snape- u know).
2. Both turned bad due to bad company (Nat was alright in book 1 & Snape was 24/7 surrounded by death eaters who influenzed his thoughts a lot).
3. Both in the end, turned up against their kind (Snape betrayed the death Eaters & Nat the magicians (in a way)).
4. Nat loved a commaner while Snape a mudblood (sorry!)
5. Both were killed trying to destroy evil.
6 The 2 of them were very talented from a young age.
7. Both tried to protect their loved ones.

I know the similarities are'nt as much as I thought them to be, but I hope this will suffice.

The tone and personalities are radically different. Nathaniel's a protagonist, while Snape was a Antagonist.

lol, I agree to that one, but some on this forum would not...

Bondage Fic :magic:

Anyway, antagonist and protagonist don't really mean much. I mean JKR could easily write a book about Snape and his tragic life, because there's enough material to make him look decent.

And he wasn't even an important antagonist. He was a teacher.
